Well, I thought I would start first by introducing myself. I am a renovation contractor from Ontario Canada that has just decided to take the plunge into Festool products. I am sure I will have plenty of questions, so hopefully they don't drive you all crazy! [scared]

I have my first order on its way, and I am very excited! [tongue]

Scott

Welcome Scott. If you are in the Toronto area, you are welcome to drop by my place and try out a few tools.

Welcome aboard Scott!

New guy here too. What did you choose for your first Festool?

Or better yet, Leafs or Sens? Who will be the first to rebuild?

Brad

Welcome for the forum, Scott. We have a great group of people here who can offer advice and answer questions. I work for Festool and I am on the forum a lot. If I can ever be of assistance, feel free to contact me.

Welcome aboard. I'm a remodeler as well. I took the plunge a little over three years ago and now wonder how I ever got anything done before Festool.

Thanks for the welcome. I am buying most of the stuff right away. ts55, ct26,rotex150,domino,1400router, 1010 router, a bunch of accessories/rails, mft3 table etc. I am hoping to have it all in the next 3 weeks, in probably 3 separate orders. I am still on the fence with the Kapex.

Frank, we met a couple years ago at the toronto wood show. You were at the festool booth. It took me a while to take the plunge, but I had to start over (everything stolen) so I thought this was as good a time as any.

Thanks...scott

Bummer about stolen tools!Your gonna overdose on festool in a few weeks!Kapex is a great tool!

Scott,

Although numerous members have welcomed you, nobody has said:
[welcome] [welcome] [welcome] this way

Look forward to seeing you time and time again.

Peter

Welcome Scott!  You are off to a great start with that list.  Be sure to check out the supplemental manuals available on line.  The manuals that come with the tools are very minimalist and there is a lot to learn.  The MFT, TSxx, CTxx, and OFxx combination is a real powerhouse, absolutely amazing what you can do.  Hope you included some of the Festool clamps - they work systematically with the mft and the rails.

This is a great place for questions, lots of different types of expertise and Shane really goes the extra distance to help us out.

Thanks again everyone.

Jesse, yes I included some clamps and other accs (clamps, elements, longer rail, rail acc, parallel guide, bags, sandpaper etc). I am sure there will be more that comes up. I just want to get the bulk of it now asap before I spend too much on other tools!  ::)

It will take me a few weeks to get everything. I can't wait! First order should be in Monday! [tongue] [tongue]

I have opinion about the domino

I have opinion about the domino.  I have not yet had a need for it.
You will probably only need an extra 24T blade for the 55.  Find a good sharpener.
I like the brillinat2 sandpaper.  Rubin is fine for finish sanding.  Saphir will eat stuff and Cristal holds up well.

I like the disposable bags, would you want to have to empty the long life at a customers house?

Don't waste your money on the guide rail accessory kit, buy extra clamps, I like the squeeze one that goes on the bottom of the rails.
Get the 3000mm rail, not the 2700, little extra money well spent.

I have the OF1400, I would like to add the 1010.  The 2200 is a beast, that being said it would be sweet to put in their CMS (hopefully someday soon).

Clamps Rock!!

I really enjoy my kapex.  I would not want to go back to a big 12" saw.  Not to mention the dust extraction.

Go Forth. [big grin]

Nahhh! You've only spent about $10,000 with another $5000 allocated. Come back and tell us when you've purchased the entire Festool line and then maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to get by.
[big grin] [big grin] [big grin]

Welcome Scott.  I see you're getting the OF1010 and the OF1400.  Two great routers, although I only have the OF1400 and the MFK700 of their line, I would have thought you would be also getting 32mm stuff also, then again it depends on what kind of work you do.  You realize the OF1010 cannot accept half inch bits, don't you?  I want one, but it would be just to spoil myself when using the 32mm hole drilling rails/system, which my OF1400 does just fine, but I've read how the OF1010 is ideal with the 32mm rails.

Get the clamping elements.  Real nice to use.  I'm looking at getting a second set, along with a second quick clamp set also.

Old B&D Workmate components fit nicely in the MFT holes as well, in case you have any of those do-dads.

What kind of work do you do mostly?  That kinda sets the direction of purchases.

Thanks everyone!

Kevin, I do renovations. Most of these tools will be for hobby use though.

Here is where I am at the moment (see pic)  [big grin]

I tried ordering through one dealer, but he did not respond to my 2nd email, even though he asked me questions. So Honey Do Kreg put me in touch with Highland Hardware. They quickly answered all my emails and helped me split up my order so I wouldn't be bringing to much across the border at once. GREAT service!  [not worthy]

I have a few more orders yet to get a few more tools and then acc's. I played with a few things tonight and I loved them!

scott

Ok putting in order number 3 tonight! It takes me a while to sort through this stuff!  [eek]

Recap what I bought so far:

1 Festool Systainer 1 Router Bit
4 Festool Quick Clamp

1 Festool OF2200 Accessory Systainer w/ Inch Guides
1 Festool Parallel Guide
1 Festool 6" Abrasive Assortment Systainer
1 Festool SELFCLEAN Filter Bag for CT 26, Pack of 5

-I am also thinking about the LR32 hole drilling system. I will probably go with the smaller one for the amount I use it. I will either get that in my next order or at JLC in March.

-is there an acc kit for the 1010 and 1400 like the 2200 has? Or do you have to buy the stuff individually? Is the one for the 2200 worth it? What do you use the most?

-what about a systainer to store odds and ends like clamps? Size?

-Kapex is still up in the air. I will probably cave in by the end of the JLC show.  [scared]

-I also think the MFS400 or 700 would be a good addition, but I am stuck on the cost of it. [eek]

-I will also still need the LONG rail. That will either ne the next order or at JLC if they have it.

-What about fastener storage? What do you guys use? I used to use those Stanley organizers, I had 12 of them. So before I go and buy I just wanted to know what you would recommend to replace these?

-still need replacement ts55 blades

Thoughts and recomendations would be appreciated! I am sure I bugged Kreg enough!  [embarassed]
