It's been years in the making for me to finally be able to start and share in the passion for woodworking along side all the wonderful contributors at FOG.

Eight years ago my wife and I bought our first home mainly for the garage and the studio space it would give us. She does ceramics and I've always wanted to get into building furniture. I've been dialing in the studio for her and remodeling the house slowly over the last 4 years and I'm finally at a stage where I can turn towards some fun stuff I that want to make.

It took me a long time to realize that big single use shop tools is not what I need. I don't have the space, and I'm not going to be making a living from what I produce. What attracted me to Festool was its increasing presence on the This Old House show over the years, and by watching videos online of what people were able to accomplish with the system, I was sold.

I few weeks a ago I was refinishing some trim work with a Porter-Cable orbital sander and threw it down. I've had it. Too much dust and to loud. Headed to my local Woodcraft store and bought a Rotex 125--first purchase. Just and incredible tool by itself. I'm now planning on refinishing flooring, polishing my car, sanding drywall and removing paint from some masonry. A week ago I ended up getting some extra cash I wasn't anticipating and decided to buy the one thing I thought I'd never get -- A Kapex with a CT 26. That was the hook for me, now next month I'm getting a MFT/3 and saw. So this year, I be able to start building cabinets for my home.

I'm am just so thrilled and blessed to be able to have now some of the best woodworking tools on the market and part of a special group of woodworkers and tradesmen--a Festool owner.

Welcome to the FOG! and the world of Festool!  It will be interesting to hear how you feel about the system once you get the MFT and the CT.

We have a TON of members here who are willing to help out with any questions you have so don't be shy!  We all started out the same way.

Merry Christmas!

[welcome] to the FOG!

Hang on to your wallet - you're in for one heck of a ride!

[big grin]

And excellent choices so far, BTW. Please be sure to post pictures of your shop and your projects. We LOVE pictures!

Thanks for warm welcome. I think officially caught the Festool "bug." I went out today and bought a MFT3 and TS55. My dealer was nice enough to swap the track for the LR32 version. Qwas dogs is already on order and Kapex is freshly mounted on a stablemate stand ready to go.

I think for me my first real project is to spend some time and get a feel of the tools. I'm also doing some Sketchup training to plan out workbench/systainer cabinets.
