Hello

To my astonishment, nobody seems to have mentioned it here!

Festool has presented a new range of vacuum cleaners! With a new dashboard as on the Midi, they now have the integrated bleuthoot and for the auto clean a new more efficient system!

There's also the option of adding a connected power strip to plug in a lamp or charge your phone without triggering the ignition on the 2nd socket.

Can anybody explain what is changed exactly about the autoclean that makes it more efficient, and how much more effective it is?

AutoClean has a function where the extractor, essentially, beats the HEPA filter to drop any particulates that may have started clogging it. I think it's really for those who use the Planex and sand drywall - which produces a large amount of fine dust.

If you're just doing sanding and woodwork, it's unlikely you'll really need it. I've had my MIDI since October and have been using it pretty regularly for a home gamer and I just checked my HEPA the other day and it's still clean. The Festool bag for the extractors does an excellent job of containing the wood dust. Drywall dust? I'm guessing not as much. But the other guys will have better insight on that.

Is this lineup of dust extractors new?  Maybe the CT25?

I've had the MIDI I for almost 2 years I believe.

The CT25 was updated at the same time as the MIDI and CT15 (if I am not mistaken). It's only the CT26/36/48, as well as their AutoClean versions, that were updated this time around. Was just looking at them yesterday and they are quite nice-looking. Not enough to abandon my MIDI but nice nonetheless.
