New Paolini Pocket Rule from Woodpeckers

Well it seems that I am becoming a Woodpecker red lover, I to ordered the 6" and 18" pocket rule today.
I will say I have become a fan of woodpeckers One Time run goodies,
Its like having a side set of goodies to add to all my festool goodies.

To me more toys more fun

[drooling] Sweet!

This is not the forum to hang out on for someone trying to keep their budget under control.

[eek] [big grin]

Looks really useful. And only $3 to ship it to Canada!

Ordered one just now.

Yesterday I received an email from Woodpeckers that order number xyz has shipped. The combination of long lead times on one time tools and the occasional regular order means that I cannot remember what is in that particular order. Should I check my confirmation sheet or let it be a surprise? Hmmm.

Jimbo, if I were to guess your order will probably be metric set up blocks, or maybe the miter master. I'm hoping my miter masters will come this week or next. To tell the truth, when I started with Woodpeckers the waits and delays drove me crazy, and each time a date was pushed back my wife had to listen to, "Da--it, that's it, I'm not checking the one time tool site anymore." , but these days I look forward to the surprise when it finally shows up. haha.

If you call Woodpeckers, they'll be able to tell you what goodies are on their way.  The other clue, if you paid by credit card, is to look at the amount charged and compare it to the one-time tools shown on their website.

ANYBODY ORDER THE PAOLINI PENCIL?  I hear it never, ever, ever, runs out of lead (graphite).  The eraser also regenerates on its own.  [blink]

I'll get right onto it in 2335.

just saw that they are making a combo imperial/metric version.  I may finally be able to switch full time to metric as I am hoping this will help me better visualize what x inches looks like in mm.

Yep, these one time tools are a real credit card killer. Ordered the pocket one today...

I'm happy to see the combo version also.  Yea, we all know 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters and yea people can say just convert it ...But in today's world, here in America working construction you have to know both and be able to measure and work in both. If only we Americans would face the fact that metic is the world measurement unit.

What is ticking me off is that you walk in to big box and don't have 3/4" but they have 19/32.... dang just call it China plywood and measure it MM!!!

America needs to get to one measurement system. I'm all for Metric. Let's lower the cost of manufacture and just produce one product that works for all around the world.

Yea going back and fixing old stuff will be an issue..but it was an issue when they converted cubits used by Moses...to whatever was next... then next...etc.

From an active contractor/woodworker view .... fixing new and old stuff it is already an issue.  Just be done with it convert. IMHO  [dead horse]
Cheers,
Steve

Old enough to remember when Mr. Carter (? I think) gave us a mandate to convert to metric. Then I remember it didn't catch on due to the cost of replacing all the imperial based manufacturing equipment in the US.

Good to see we've almost got rid of that problem completely now.... /sarcasm

Dude,

LOL...if you are old enough to remember you wouldn't have to add "(? I think)" you would know. Also in America it is written and stated as "President Carter". Even after they have left office. It is a respect to the office issue.

Every company I work with had be using metric for years, and that goes for what remains of the US manufacturing equipment you talk about.

I'm sure there are some holdouts...but really try and fix any "American car" with only imperial tools....not going to happen.

Being that you are on a Festool site that only builds tools in metric.... don't you think you are in the wrong place with your statements?...oh... you call them sarcasm.  Well I say wake up and smell the metics....not sarcasm, just reality.

Cheers,
Steve

Are you calling me a liar?

Or that I'm old enough to not remember details like that or if it was Ford that started it....

I recall that Mr. is appropriate too. Maybe I'm conflating it with "Mr. President", but I don't really appreciate your comments. And it was meant was a joke about how we've shipped so much manufacturing overseas.

My Harley is all imperial (at least as far as I'm taken it apart).

Not that it matters. The point is, we're still measuring speed in MPH, gas in MPG, and distances in imperial.

Thanks for your participation.

This thread is about a measuring device mad of metal.  The battles / discussions about measuring systems will go one for ...

Let's keep it polite please.

i had a funny situation today.

i was helping the plumber put in some pipes. i measure it in metric (metric only tape and phone calculator) but converted  it to imperial as i thought he wouldnt bother with metric. he converted everything into metric and cut the pipes then wrote the length in imperial . i then had to convert back to metric to know where they went.
shame we didnt realise what was going on , it would have saved a lot of fooling around.
