New Phil Simms ad for Arthritis Knee Center

Phil Simms did a video ad for a medical practice, which I linked below.  It is only the first sentence that bothers me.  Who says about themselves (with a straight face) that they are a “legend”. 

So listen to the first sentence that leaves Simms’ mouth and see if it sounds more than a little bit pretentious.

The vacuity of vanity.
Perhaps everyone is or has been or will be guilty of that at some (or multiple) point/s.
But to have it memorialized and then distributed via the internet is, hmmm, …. ???? …. well, it is the stuff of legends.
