Seems like the light is the big feature, but it also looks like it uses a different disk and pad? At least compared to the Easy it has alot more small holes in it. I'm wondering if that's for improved dust collection?
How good is the Original/Easy on dust collection? Do you get a film of dust over everything using it or does it really mean you don't have to seal off the room?
Why did they add adjustable suction? Can't you just adjust the suction on the CT36?

It does have a different pad, more holes and eccentric operation. My original LHS is brilliant on dust control and head articulation, also comes in slightly more compact classic systainer.
Unfortunately Festool has discontinued some of the original granat paper. The LHS 2 paper is same diameter just has more holes punched as mentioned. Bit disappointed that they did that to be honest.

I would always recommend wearing a dust mask for much of this type of work. If I remember to only start the sander once the head is in contact with wall/ceiling, and set the extraction mode and vacuum strength appropriately then very little dust gets away. If the pad is moving and contacts the surface when there isn't full brush contact, dust will escape.
I use mine for three things: flatting old rough paint, sanding areas of drywall filler, fixing large areas of rough plaster. Paper wise, I use both Granat and Granat-net depending the surface.
I've no doubt the new Planex has improved the dust control even more since the pad itself has a much larger number of extraction holes compared to the LHS 1.
