Hi Shane, guys:

You seem to be pretty on top of things here at FOG. I am new here, excuse me if I should have posted an intro first.

My question to the Festool people is:
Is there a procedure for submitting new product ideas to Festool?
Will Festool even look at my new product design or am I wasting my time?
I have contacted BoschUSA and was redirected to their idea submission portal and I know Fastcap thrives doing this.

I have a 3D render and I am working on a presentation doc right now.

Thanks for your time
Best regards
H.Gil

Mr. Gil,

I received your PM asking the same. Please send me the product idea you'd like us to consider as there's no website we use for this purpose. Our Product Manager in the US will review it and has direct relations with our headquarters in Germany if there is interest. Thank you for considering Festool for your product idea.

I will email you the doc.
Thanks for your assistance, you have been very helpful;have a nice weekend.

I'll look for your email, thanks. Better to deal with a real person than a website, I hope.  [wink]

Hi Shane,
I just email you the Google Docs presentation link.
Thanks for your help.

You gonna share with us too?

Since you've sent it to Bosch and Festool, you've already given up any claim to copyright/patent, so no reason not to tell us what it is!

Not accurate in the least

As far as I know, I have one year after initial offering to apply for patent or patent pending status.
So I'd rather not disclose it any further as I wouldn't want any complications.

I did send the presentation to Shane first, even though I got in touch with Bosch first.

I feel very confident on my research and design. There is a need for this device in the market. It is in fact so obvious you guys can figure it out, I will give you some clues:

- It was designed with Festool in mind but Bosch, Fein, Mirka and Porter-Cable have compatible products.
- It is missing from Festool's line up.
- It gets mentioned around here every once in a while.
- It is not a product that is readily available.
- Some members have pieced together Festool products to achieve a device with similar functionality
- It would not be a tool additional to what Festool offers in the international market, but is designed to be integrated into Festool's ecosystem out of the box.

There might be a big grey area where all these clues meet, but I won't say more since I don't want to put my foot in my mouth.

Hopefully you hear more about it from Festool in the near future.

Thanks for the link.
Leading to this I actually sent emails and messages to festoolusa.com, festool.de, festool international, and facetoolusa and festool.de facebook pages. All with no answer.

Shane has been extremely helpful. I guess it is out of his hands now and has become a waiting game.

I manage our Facebook page and never received a message from you there.

I see you submitted an email via our website on 1/2, which was last Thursday. Remember that our offices have been closed due to weather, which is why you likely didn't receive a response.

At any rate, you can trust that it's in the hands of someone in Germany that's a decision maker.

Afraid he is quite accurate............if said design as been exposed, to anyone without NDA in place then first to the gate wins, it has happened before viz a viz  carbonless paper, the person who invented it had no rights after her disclosure.......it was taken by a colleague, patented and voila...........it is very murky water

Let's not get into a debate about copyright and patent laws, please. Remember, there are different laws in various countries, maybe it's different in the U.S. vs. the U.K. Regardless, anyone with such an idea should consult an attorney to get proper consultation on how to protect their intellectual property.

point taken, however a debate not intended, better things to do, more of a cautionary warning.

I sure hope it's a Festool espresso machine that works of my CXS batteries, grinds the beans like my RO90, filters the brew through my midi vac bags and "dispenses" biscuits like my domino.
[unsure] [tongue]
