I think you hit a cap of about 58-60% income tax over 100k€'ish annual income. This figure includes the compulsory pension and healthcare payments as well as county taxes in addition to the state taxes.
If you compare these figures in NA you really should add your medical plan & pendion fund fees to some extent to your taxes to be on level ground.
