Well, a week ago I was happily driving down the road and then mechanical failure....  Had to find a new ride.  Guess the Festool gear will have to get a racking workout:

2015 Ford Transit T-150.  Regular wheelbase, medium height roof.

The insides of these things are huge!

Thanks,  not Festool blue though.    [eek]  And the dealer screwed up when he registered it for me so when I get rid of my old truck I might end up losing either the Virginia Festool license plates or the Festo ones.  Rats!

I think the new crop of vans that Detroit is selling is a breath of fresh air.  Lots of new styles and features. [big grin]

Real nice Peter...lots of room on the inside.

Actually I really like the color...I believe the Ford brochure refers to it as Mafell Red...

Way to go Peter ... Mafell red [eek]

Sorry to hear about your other ride, surprises like this aren't the greatest!

The entire forum is looking forward to the fitout [wink] [big grin]

Way cool.  That thing is humongous inside!

I've lived in apartments that were smaller than that. [big grin]

Actually the color is Vermillion red - not M....... red.  [big grin]  Right now the racking is going to be delayed while I re-read a whole bunch of threads here.  Also have to make a dent on house projects first to make the getting-less-patient boss happy.  And get the old truck fixed to the point of maximizing reasonable return at sale.

Bulkhead needs to be ordered.  Looking into rear view cameras, window tint / security grills, and possibly an alarm.  I have a $1000 Ford Rebate towards these types of items for the next 30 days.  I think that I will go spend Ford's money soon!

Bought from a dealer who just sells Ford Trucks.  Best experience ever.  NO pressure, decent deal, decent financing, no add-on sales pitch, picked it up with less than 5 minutes of paperwork.  Even my wife was smiling.

Oddly it was my wife who made the push for the change.  She pointed out that over the years I had always tried to adapt a vehicle, or settle for something, rather than thinking about how I worked and what I really needed to get the job done.  Then I showed her some of the images in the threads here and darn if she wasn't right.

Nice ride! Can't wait to see pictures when it's outfitted with racks and stuff :)

Kind regards,
Oliver

The US landscape is certainly changing with al these euro style vans, what did you drive before?

A one ton Ford pickup with a truck cap.  Usually pulling a 5 x 10 ft trailer.  The downsizing of the engine (3.7 liter) versus 5.4 liter in the old truck may produce some gas savings, but I am not counting on that.  The trailer will only be used for transport of materials that won't fit in the van.

Great new ride Peter!

I've been thinking that when my lease is up on my Ford F-150 truck in the New Year to replace it with a vehicle like yours.

I've looked up the internal dimensions of your vehicle and I'm clear on the back floor length capacity for transporting long materials, but what I can't seem to find is how long of a baseboard can be fitted inside the vehicle down the centre of the vehicle resting on the front dashboard.

With my existing truck configuration and back window, I'm able to carry full 14 foot base/casings resting on the dashboard, through the slider window opening and resting on my tonneau cover with no overhang. With 16 foot pieces they only overhang the tailgate by about a foot. Trouble is that we have crappy winters here in Alberta sometimes and that can prove challenging picking up and transporting long materials.

There's a 3.7 liter in that van? [eek]

We get to choose between 3 different power ratings 100,125 and 155 bhp, but they are all 2.2 liters
I drove the previous model with a 2.2 liter and 155bhp for three years, great ride.

The new ones will do 50.000km or two years in between service, they doubled that from the previous one.

Peter, very nice ride.  Before you buy a rear camera you might what to look into this rear window mount backup mirror.  I've got one on my van and I can see the full width of my van seven feet out the back.  It is less useful at night but it can still help you from backing into the parked car behind you.  It will also fit SUV's and mini vans.  For $20 it's hard to go wrong.

I will pull a tape later and get you that on my van.

There are three options here:  3.7 liter, 3.5 twin turbo, and 2.5 diesel.

I like everything about it, except the color.

Unless you are going to be a hilti rep, then the color is great.
