New Senco Cordless Nailers - No more compressors or fuel cells

Thank you Ken for an excellent review and write-up! Have been interested in the 15 gauge unit and awaiting someone with experience to describe and compare it to other nailers. Really appreciate you posting this review.
Pete

You're welcome, Pete.  Hope this helped anyone on the fence.  I know I wasn't sure whether to keep it or not, back and forth.  Contacted Gary Katz on Sunday to get his advice.  Also Jamie (JLB builders LLC - FOG name) since he's had one for quite some time.  Tough call, but I think as cool as it is, it's not right for me.

I'm open to convincing while it's still in my posession, if you care to try.

Ken, thank you for the review.  Keep us up to date with the performance of the batteries.  The first production run or two we had some issues.

Im still happy with mine. I ordered the 18 ga brad nailer Fusion last night along with a TS75/CT26 and Bosch GTS 1031 table saw so next week will be like Xmas  [big grin]

I use to use a Paslode 18ga brad nailer and that suck. It wouldn't fire more than half the time, had it cleaned and it was hardly used. My paslode framing nailer works great unless it is below freezing outside.

I will have a chance to use the 18 ga next week. As for size the paslode version didn't bother me and I have a Porter cable air  18ga brad nailer as a back up.

Adding the 2-cents of a non-professional - I bought one of the 15 gauge nailers when they first came out to use on trimming my own house. I have 1/2 dozen other nailers including an 15ga angled pneumatic but I did not want to drag a hose around in our 1/2 finished and furnished home so I "justified" buying it. After about 1,200 LF of 2 piece base and casing 50 doors/windows (5/4 poplar) I can report that it worked pretty flawlessly. Specifics are:

-  Never once jammed. I did manage to hit metal behind the wood a couple times and bent some nails but I never had to clear the breach.
-  Battery life seemed good, I only had a couple of days where I worked long periods and I am sure I still fire many fewer nails than a pro.
-  There is a little "bounce" that is noticeable when firing, one of my contractors used it a bit and compared it to his Pasalode, he seemed to be bothered by it. With that said, he used it because the Pasalode had crapped out...

I am planning on selling this one because it was a single-job tool for me and it seems silly to have it live on the shelf next to its pneumatic cousin for many years. If anyone is interested just PM me for details.

Overall I am pleased with the tool and plan to someday "justify" the 18ga model, which is a much more useful tool for me.

Used the Fusion 15 gauge again today.  I was very surprised that it had a problem countersinking 2 1/2" nails in a pressure treated 2x2 at about a 2/3rds depth setting.  They protruded at least an 1/8".  When I dialed the depth setting to max, it set the nails flush or a hair under flush.

Brought the gun over to Dave Reinhold to show it to him and let him try it tonight.  He can let you know his feelings, but he also had problems sinking the nails and one nail shot kind of strange and bent over.
