So small project I know, but I had a minute so I thought I would share. I have a tiny kitchen so I'm making 10" deep 1" thick shelves that will go all the way around my kitchen about 15" down from the ceiling. I'm planning to use them to put up cookbooks & mixing bowls etc. I've got them all cut to dimension, scribed against the walls, and have routed a decorative 1/4" grove in the front and a 1/2" wire channel in the back edge. They are going to have 6 under shelf lights that will add task lighting in the kitchen and I've designed it so all the wires will be totally hidden. They are just out of a nice quality poplar because I'm going to be finishing them with the same paint treatment I did on the kitchen cabinets. You can probably see a bit of that in the last photo.
