So small project I know, but I had a minute so I thought I would share. I have a tiny kitchen so I'm making 10" deep 1" thick shelves that will go all the way around my kitchen about 15" down from the ceiling. I'm planning to use them to put up cookbooks & mixing bowls etc. I've got them all cut to dimension, scribed against the walls, and have routed a decorative 1/4" grove in the front and a 1/2" wire channel in the back edge. They are going to have 6 under shelf lights that will add task lighting in the kitchen and I've designed it so all the wires will be totally hidden. They are just out of a nice quality poplar because I'm going to be finishing them with the same paint treatment I did on the kitchen cabinets. You can probably see a bit of that in the last photo.

That will be a nice clean look...how are the shelves fastened/supported....looked at a job today where it's designed with no upper cabs just large floating shelves...should be fun one.

Well I'm joining them together just with some pocket holes but they are going to hang down from a few pewter L brackets.

So here are the rest of the photos of the kitchen shelves. Painted and installed. I'm very pleased with how they turned out.

Michael , I'll be honest at first I was kinda on the fence with brackets & color...but when pics of entire room scrolled up...I really dig it! Very cool vibe with colors and love the door & trim work...great place you have. Lighting gives a modern look with everything else a vintage feel..nice job..

WOW.....they are so good they defy gravity [not worthy]

I suppose australians can see them the right way up..........

LOL i thought somethings was wrong with my eyes, at least im not the only one who sees the pics upside down :P

I can see the items on the kitchen shelves share a similar organisational extremism to your workshop  [wink]

Are you really going to use the as shelves for "things" ? or are they more about supporting the lighting?

Kev.
