New sys roll

After using mine for a couple of weeks I'm impressed. Its alot sturdier(?) than it looks, wheels about nicely and easy to pull up stairs. I was on a job last week and a couple of other guys were impressed
About the issue of laying it down and all bits in sys falling about, well get a van not a car! I pull mine into my van strap it up and off I go.
I don't regret buying it, except I've seen it cheaper  [mad]

That's cheap, considering the basic roll board is £70 now.  Just paid £121 for the Sys Roll from Warren - arrived today, many thanks. 1100mm was just too high to fit in the van (I have internal roof bars) but 5 mins with a Kapex soon sorted that out ;)

Nice piece of kit, looking forward to using it in earnest - thanks for posting about it here, probably wouldn't have seen it for a while otherwise.

Cheers, Pete

They're a coupe of lengths of  (1"?) square-section steel 'tube' with another smaller section inside it at either end for adjustment. These fit into a couple of cast (wardrobe hanging rail) sockets at either end; retaining clips fitted into holes drilled through both sections keep things in place.

They're just for light use - wouldn't want to load them up with a wardrobes-worth of MDF - but they're fine for storing longer stuff out of the way; longer guide rails, my 6' level, lightweight domestic ladder, my broom etc... Just keeps it all out of the main loadspace - it's only a small van (Berlingo) and needs all the help it can get ;)

Pic here from when they were first fitted:-

Looks a bit different now ;)

thats a nice idea peterm. im not sure i would put alot of stuff up there but a few light things would do no harm.
what are the cross bars . are they the normal roof rack bars. iv them on my berlingo.

@Richard.Selwyn - no, didn't look at the Citroen roof bars; I have a set of regular heavy-duty fixed roof-bars on the outside, the internals are just for stuff I want to keep safe/dry/out of the way/not nicked!

@AlanM - no, not 'proper' cross bars, just square section steel tube sourced locally; metal supermarket or somewhere like that.

Hi Guys
Just thought I'd let you know how we are getting on with the SYS - Roll systainer transporter our end. Ive been pleasantly surprised how good it is.
It's quite a large truck when you first get your hands on one, but after a while you forget about that and it really does do it's job well.

One possible improvement they could do though is if you were wanting to store your guide rails in the back between the handle and your Systainers
it could do with some sort or barrier to stop them falling off the bottom when you tilt it back towards you. MAK in his first post shows his spirit level stored
in this position.

I tried a thin piece of MdF ( 15.5" x 9") to show what could go there to stop the bottom falling away from the truck.

I'll play about with this some more and report back using something a little more robust and pleasing to the eye.....
I do wonder how the wheels will hold up on rough terrain after a few months, they are the same as the CTL extractor models.

It's a shame they couldn't make it foldable like other sack trucks, I know you would lose that bottom draw but for me I would like it foldable for storage. I use a wolfcraft one at the moment which is ok and also use it when fitting kitchens to move machinery and all the carcasses

Hey joiner 1970 , the tanos comes in two sizes and folds very small, i have one,  but like mak and other guys here i opted for the new sys roll , thanks to mak and the post i think it will more that serve it's purpose , as  i said in an earlier post you can put a kapex on one, very neat .

Also the rails slide into the grooves that you can see in the final photo
That in itself is a blessing

Ok,

I think I'm going to order one from the UK, I have to have one.  What else should I get at the same time?

John,
Is that Hilti stuff in the red boxes? If so, what's the story?

(I have a Hilti drill I bought for a fortune cos it had a vac attachment. I now see Makita have copied it for just over half the price)
