Hello,

I am in the market to purchase a new drill and am wondering if the new T-15, T-Loc Systainer, will also have a storage incorporated into it?  Also, are there any other differences to the old T-15 outside of a light and battery gauge?  What is the approximate charge time of the new battery?  Is the weight difference only due to a bigger battery?

Thank you!  :)

Currently, the newer versions of the T-series drills are scheduled to be released in the fall. Originally, it was supposed to be in June, but that has been moved back based on the latest information from Germany.

The current T-series will be available in T-Locs in the coming weeks.

The differences with what we are calling the "face-lift" versions of the drills are the integrated LED light which is insanely bright, the battery gauge, the slightly higher capacity battery (3.0 Ah vs. current 2.6 Ah) and the belt clip on the battery.

If there's a weight difference, then it would be attributed to the 3.0 Ah battery which has more cells that the current 2.6 Ah battery. Also, there will be a T-18 introduced at the same time.

As for the charge time on the newer battery, I'd have to check and get back to you. I don't know that spec off the top of my head.

How come I ain't heard of the T-15!  So my T+15 is being replaced!

Battterie gauge? 3,0ah?  Man da sucks! I want da!

Will the T-Loc have a storage attic?

have they adressed all the faults with the t15 then like the shoddy chuck, faulty electronics, loose connection and horrible rough sound. I suppose that will be reflected in a price increase

Good question, I'd like to verify before I answer.

Are the old style T-15 drills compatible with the new C15 batteries?

Yes, they are cross-compatible. The T-series and C-series Lithium Ion drills are backward compatible with all batteries from the past 5-6 years that are of equal or lower voltage. There's a compatibility chart in the new catalog which I will post in PDF format on Tuesday.

I realize that you have a well documented problem with your drill. I'm not aware of any of those issues here in the US. Festool UK should be able to address any issues in repairing your drill. I think if there had been issues with the drill in the US/Canadian markets, there would be plenty of forum members talking about them.

I guess this is another NAINA, because my T15 runs great.  It purrs like a kitten each time I use it.

I have a T12 and T15 with no issues. I got a T15 for one of my electricians to use and it is in virtual continuos usage about 5 hours per day driving many hundreds of self taping sheet metal screws daily doing panel building. No issues. Same guy totally wore out a C12 after 4 years.

If I get a T-18 will I be able to use my T 15 charger to charge those batteries?  Also, will the T-18's be like the ProTool line.  I'd like to see something more construction oriented.  If your sister company had a market here in the states, then I would be buying those tools as well.

Shane-

Are the new C12/15 Li-ion going to be delayed until fall as well, or are you still predicting a summer launch?

Yes, the TRC 3 charger that came with your T 15 will handle all existing batteries, including the soon-to-be-released T 18 batteries.

All new drills have been delayed as far as I know with the exception of the CXS which is still planned for May.

The answer is no, the new drills will not have the attic in the Systainer. There is a new version of the attic T-Loc Systainer with an improved latch. But the drills will not be sold in this based on the information that I have.

Here are the latest T-Lock systainer with attic storage.

They come in SYS 1 TL-DF, SYS 2 TL-DF and SYS 3 TL-DF.

At this moment the drills in Europe will also be delivered with the normal T-Lock versions.

I back Dean up with the faulty T15 drill. I have had mine when it came out in the uk and it has been repaired and swapped a few times but it was with in a few weeks that the faults all happened really so I think they sorted out the faults they had! well I thought they did cus mine now has a slightly different fault now not had this fault with the others but some times even though I am holding the trigger in FULL the drill would just stop and start again no reason at all even if I had the drill drilling fresh air so no screws or drilling into wood just thin air it would do it!  Been doing it for months now no big deal to me as it's only some times and it doesn't cause any problems just takes that little longer to drive the screw i was driving in at the time cus the drilled stopped.
