NEW T 18+3 and Carvex PSC400 Twinpack

I expect that this set will sell well.

If the Carvex situation is not cleared up in North America by the time I plan to visit the UK in 2012, there is a some chance that I will purchase such a set over there.

Mmmmm, nice....... [big grin]

Funnily enough, I have been looking at both of these this afternoon, and working out how much it'd be for both the T18 and the 18V Carvex. Buying them separately would bag you an extra battery & and a 2nd charger (for the workshop) but this would certainly be a (slightly) cheaper option.

I'm curious as to how the systainer is laid out - I know they're not included, but is there room in the insert for the extra chucks?

As soon as they arrive I'll take some pics and post them for you.

Warren,

Thanks for shooting that!

Nice to see they've used expanded polystyrene for the insert (it's a lot better than the blow-moulded ones IMHO) but the layout is a bit disappointing, with one tool on top of the other. If you need the jigsaw, you have to take the drill out first; the jigsaw won't come out easily with one hand (as demonstrated!); you can't store the jigsaw with a battery fitted; and possibly the base has to be removed to fit the jigsaw in (or was it just loose 'cos it's new?).

I'd hoped it would have more of a 'side-by-side' arrangement, but TBH it looks like the jigsaw is way too long for that (I haven't seen one of the cordless ones in the flesh).

I have to say that, that is pretty poor to bury the jigsaw under the drill, strange.  Although the polystyrene is a step in the right direction as it has to improve the protection level for the tools It may  get tatty/damaged when the tools are such a tight fit.
Or it could just be Warrens short stubby fat little fingers [poke]

It would be nice to see them side by side for easer access. might require a larger systainer, but is would be a real hassle to remove one to get to the other one. In a shop it might not be a big deal but on the job site??

I understand bundling them together for sale but I don't like the idea of storing them together.  I'll use the drill 90% of the time but I'll always need to carry around the jigsaw too.

cant see the problem of the jigsaw being at the bottom as drill is most used tool anyway and would probly be out already. Also what the point of carrying them seperate that would mean having to get the other out when you want a charger or the other battery, thats just plain stupid

I think its a good idea having them together.  Festool are not going to please everyone all the time !

saw em in customers house, was harry potte toy glasses so took my oppertunity for a photo, or did someone put black paint on my binoculars

i like having them together as you only have 2 batteries and 1 charger. if they were seperate you would need to bring both or have nothing .

as side by side position would be better if they would fit.
i am sure they could have made it fit . even if the charger was on a sliding clip (like the batteries) on the bottom of the lid , it could be charged there or taken off to charge.
they should both fit. i have my dewalt 18 volt impact with battery fitted and 2" bit fitted, normal 18volt drill. long cfl type light, charger, 3 more batteries, a 4"x 3"x2" bit box, and plenty of room for a few boxs of screws and a tape etc, all it a t loc sys3

personally if it was me i would pet the drill and charger and 2nd battery in a sys1 or2  and put the jigsaw in another sys1 or 2 allong with the bases ,blades etc for it.

No,more like a young  de niro......... are you looking at me..?

Seems odd that both are in the same systainer! [eek] I like a package but want my tools to reside in their own systainer. [big grin] I don’t want to have to remove a drill to get to a Jig… [scared].

To me the combo should have its own systainer for each product [thumbs up].

Cheers,
Steve

I keep my Rotex 125 and my ETS 125 in the same systainer. It frees up a systainer for sanding pads, sandpaper, sheepskins etc.

I think the combo systainer is a great idea and would like to see combo inserts sold separately so we can organize things how we wish.

i think having the rotex and the ets in the same box is good as they compliment each other. you use one for rough work and the other for smooth. they are both needed at the same time.

the drill and jigsaw is different in that you dont always( probably on 20-30%) use the two tools together one after the other
