new Tanos T-loc Sortainer and Combi systainers

Saw some in the flesh this morning - the Sys4/Sort3, the Sys2Combi, and the Sys3Combi. I did, however, resist the urge to buy any, as at the moment I just don't have a use for them. I'll probably still get some anyway at some point...

BTW, the measurements for the individual sections are:
Top section 62mm;
Middle section(s) 87mm;
Bottom section 80mm.

Those are rounded up to the nearest mm (so if you add the heights for the Sys4/Sort3, it comes out at 316mm, whereas it's actually 315mm).

If (and it's a big 'if') you could get the sections apart, each additional drawer would add 87mm to the overall height, meaning that the resulting height wouldn't fit in with the systainer 'system', which is based on multiples of 105mm.

If you added a second drawer to, for example, a Sys3 combi, the result would be 315+87=402mm high. This is slightly (18mm) smaller than a Sys5 which is 420mm.

Thanks for clearing that up much appreciated. Seems strange they made the mid sections that size though. I thought maybe they would make them 79mm, that way if you moved two together it would make 158mm (same as sys2). Obviously not.....Maybe they don't want us tearing them apart  [tongue]

It looks like the drawer on the combi is the same as the sortainer. I wonder if that means that we could add more drawers to the combi... I'm also hoping they offer drawers of other sizes... A combi/2 with a drawer big enough to hold sandpaper sorted on edge may be useful.

Yeah we think It is possible to add drawers to the combi. The only problem with that is it will then leave the combi an odd size. As in you could never get it to be the same height as any other stack you may have.... If you read the last 10 posts or so it will probably explain it better.

Quick video showing the drawers being swapped and how the dividers come out.

Also I started playing around with sys combi 2 for a new drill setup. The drawer needs some tweaking, but it all fits so far!

This place in Germany does. I have ordered from them. At the time I placed a large order that came by ship so it took a long time to get to the USA. But I think they might do small orders by air. Price wise you should not have to pay the 19% VAT if ordering from the USA.  https://www.kofferfunshop.de/en/index.html

CBdirekt ships to the US: http://stores.ebay.com/CBdirekt?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

I purchased 10 SYS Mini's from them (even with $48 shipping it was still about $90 cheaper than buying them here)  They are showing all of the new Sys/Combi stuff on their eBay store and shipping estimate is $60/unit which is probably a pretty accurate estimate based on shipping of my SYS Mini's.  You can send them a message through eBay with specifics on what you want to buy and they'll give you a shipping quote.  Probably some savings if you buy multiple units.

Postman came today.

I was expecting the sortiner to come with more divides like the original sortiner. Or has someone pinched them?

Anyway I can confirm the undersides are smooth. [big grin]

Looking at those tabs inside on the second photo I'd imagine they easily pull apart so you can add sections.

If they are anything like the similar tabs on the old style , then it practically takes a jack hammer to get them free. JRB did it by making special devices.

They just look like ordinary tabs to me but then I've not seen them in the flesh yet. We'll have to wait and see.

Be careful when I purchased Bosch Clamps they shipped first to an intermediary address in England and charges me the VAT and then shipped the items to the US.

I hope they are relatively east to get apart.

There are indeed dividers cross ways available.
But strange enough you need a foam filling at the back of some boxes to fill up the drawer.
Why didn't they make another larger grey box to fill up the extra space?
[attachimg=1]

I think the foam is there simply for accessibility. If you open up the drawer full length it will pop out eventually so the foam pushes the rear box as far out as it will go without the whole drawer insert coming out while still allowing you to reach in and fumble up that little thing you have there. :)

If you have a larger box in the rear you would not have access to the whole box without pulling out the whole drawer insert anyway. It would be very tiring to have to remove the whole insert if you had something that varely fits in that larger box as you would not be able to wiggle it out otherwise.  Makes sense? :)

Decided to modify the Combi Sys II a little and did a lid-swap with the C18 SYS (hard foam on inner lid):

The new Combi SYS rocks, it really has helped me with the "spillover" and "crossover" items for drilling and screwdriving that were floating around several Systainers.

I still have to get some insert boxes for my other one. There is still a little room to spare but I want to keep those slots open for misc items.

Looks like a perfect solution for all those extras bits and pieces you need with certain tools like drills. I wonder if Festool will start to release new tools in these Combi's.

I see a Canadian on-line vendor is taking pre-orders.

The Miami ebay seller photos look like they were taken at a Festool retailer (and the back of a truck).

Really waiting for these to land here.

I agree that they look like they were taken at a Festool retailer.  It would be a little bit shady if they were selling them before they were released in the States.
