I've just started using my Conturo and have a question for experienced users.
I'm using .5 mm X 7/8 white oak edge banding and having trouble finding the sweet spot with regards to settings for heat, speed, and glue amount. I'm using the natural color pucks and as per a call to Festool applications, they told me to use the low setting for temperature. My main problem is I seem to have excess amounts of glue ending up on the feed roller. It peels off easily enough but is this normal? The guy at Festool told me the machine is far from plug and play which I realize. He also suggested the double feed method where you basically back up your strip of edge banding with another piece when feeding into the machine with the idea being that it will put more pressure on the glue head. I can't see any difference when I do this. So far I haven't used it hand held, only mounted in the conturo MFT. I'm sure I can eventually figure it out but any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

What is the substrate, plywood or MDF?

You'll have to play with the amount applied. I run mine at about 30% of the indicator using maple edge on plywood.

Thanks! I'm applying it to veneered fiber core (mdf). I've tried lowering the glue amount down to about 25% just to see what it would do and it's a little better but still seems excessive. I've got to where I just peel it off after every panel I run. Kind of a bummer.  Do you adjust the temperature from the default low setting?

I run the natural @ 200ºC, I believe that is the high setting and recommended temp on the packaging.

Decrease the glue feed a little more.

Thanks Tom, that's one thing I haven't tried; switching to the higher temp setting while lowering the glue output.
Wish me luck!

To be clear, there will be a small amount of glue on the roller. After 100 feet or so, I do peel off the glue.
