New to Festool and fairly new to carpentry

x3 on the FS3000.  I don't think the extra 300mm (~ 1 foot) would be a hassle compared to the benefits.

The 3000 is probably the one I'll go with. Better to have too much than not enough.
I know that the cost of the green kool-aid and materials will probably be equal to, if not greater than, just buying some new cabinets...but where's the fun in that?? My wife and I recently laid about 1000 sq ft of floor tile, on diagonal, and we had never touched a piece of tile in our lives. The floors turned out great, and I have a great sense of pride, knowing that we did that. It has given me the confidence to move on to this endeavor. Turns out, carpentry is something that I'm extremely passionate about and I have enjoyed the process immensely so far!!

Doing some trim work in the house will help hone your skills. You can get some stock from the box store and route profiles and such. Wainscot is a great project to change the look of a room. Anything you do for inside the house will make the miss happy.

You'll need a planer eventually to change material thickness. I have the cms unit with the 1400. It does all I have ever asked of it.  +1 on the 3000.

I have made some nice frames of oak for some prints I had, and some for friends. Also made some oak silverware trays for the wife and friends.
Funny that you mention the Wainscot...we recently gutted a bathroom to the studs. I just finished tape and texturing the walls. Next up is paint, wainscoting and bead board, then base, shoe, door casings, and crown. Deep end, Herr I come!! [scared]

[blink]. One thing to remember about the 3000 mm rail - if you have to transport it  there may be some difficulties.  A 2700 may also cause some issues as well.

The 3000 has become a friend of mine for straightening edges of long boards. I should have kept the shipping carton though.

Hi everyone,

I'm a 41 year old truck driver who wants to build his own kitchen and bath cabinets.I'm trying to gain as much knowledge as I can from posts on the FOG and YouTube videos.
What I'm especially interested in knowing is if there are any FOG members on here from the Shreveport, La area that I could network with and learn some things from, hands on.
The Festool arsenal is growing in my shop and I'm really excited to learn how to use these awesome tools effectively and efficiently!

Hey Buddy,
I just posted this video on youtube this morning:
I will be doing some epic built-in cabinets next month while the family is out of town, I will be posting the series on youtube, I plan on using all Festool, including a domino and router for the doors if I borrow them.
