Am I understanding this right? ... You guys still don't have the CARVEX jigsaw?? Wow - that must suck! The CARVEX is a magic bit of kit and the accessories make any other jigsaw I've seen obsolete.

Hope you get it soon.

Kev,
You are rubbing salt into our wounds  [dead horse].  Someday...

Cheers,
Steve

The scary part is Shane updated the "ETA For New Product Introductions in NA" and the Carvex isn't on the list. [unsure]

Even though I've got a new CARVEX (barrel mains power version) in a t-loc, many of the new local CARVEX models as well as the CARVEX accessory kit came in the older systainers.

A T18 I got locally also came in an old systainer (spoke about this in another thread).

I wouldn't be surprised if the significant US demand for the latest stuff along with a manufacturing demand backlog is the issue with these new lines.

I was speaking to a Hammer/Felder rep yesterday on the phone, and he said that most of the times, when machinery is not available in Canada versus being available in the US, it is because of UL versus CSA reasons.  Seems the standards/requirements in Canada are different and/or higher.

As far as I know, Festool has never given a reason why the Carvex intro was pulled for NA, but it may be because they would not be allowed to sell in Canada, and they simply will only offer a tool in NA if it is available in both countries.  Hey, it's a bit of a shot in the dark, but I've not heard of a better explanation/guess as to why we still don't have the Carvex.

Maybe but i doubt it.
In terms of market size Canada isn't even as big as the state of California never mind the CSA requirements, packaging printed with french and English and Canada presents a fairly high barrier to entry.

Nah - they sell a wider range in Oz ... I agree with Tim.

Had another thought though ... the interchangeable base is fairly unique in jigsaw terms. Maybe that's a hold up. I haven't even checked if you can run the saw with the base removed.

I believe CSA has nothing to do with it. I remember reading that Festool go with UL for the USA and Canada.

Could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time!
