Just got back from my dealer, and he was at Festool UK last week for training on the new products.

The OF2200 is available NOW. Price is only 20GBP more than the OF2000 (469 +VAT as opposed to 449) - very different than the pricing situation in the US!!! He's been using it, and reckons that despite the apparent size & weight, it's really nice and easy to use.

The MFT3 is available for ordering now, shipping 1st May. Don't know what price it's going to be. The smaller MFT3 Kapex will also be available 'soon'.

Still nothing at all about these new tools on festool.co.uk! They obviously don't see the UK website as important for generating sales as Festool USA do :o

Aparently, there ISN'T going to be a new drill anytime soon - they told him that they have got a Li-Ion drill ready, but need to do more testing due to the massive recall of Li-Ion batteries by Sony last year.

What is that about a "smaller" MFT3 Kapex?  I'm only just getting excited about the Kapex; and you come along with mention of a smaller one.  i don't do crown moulding anymore and a smaller version might be just purrrfect for my small shop space and weak back.
::) ;D

Tinker,

Sorry to disappoint you - it's not a smaller version of the Kapex!!!

The 'MFT Kapex' is a smaller version of the MFT3 - it's just slightly bigger than the footprint of the saw, and is about 4 1/2" lower than the MFT3, so that when the kapex is placed on it, the bed of the Kapex is exactly the same height as an adjacent full-size MFT3. Presumably there will be brackets of some kind to connect the two sizes together?

There's a German page ion it HERE - it also shows a 'MFT Kapex USA' version, but I can't see what the difference is between the two...

Oh yes, forgot to add:

The router module and fence for the CMS have been re-designed to overcome the problem of the dust building up inside it (and presumeably to accommodate the OF2200 as well?).

Thanks very much for posting that info. It's nice to see that the UK is also getting the new router and MFT.

Agreed - the US website is better, and no doubt will steadily improve with Shane's input. I've just been over there to look at the OF2200 video again - it's got some great features, but is a pretty weighty beast.

just to put uk prices into american

with uk sales tax (vat) the of2200 will cost us in excess of 1100 dollars

that by the way the uk price does NOT include the additional base set

as i understand it the full set will cost uk users an addittional 1200 dollars

so make that uk price a cool 2300 dollars for the full set

ps our pre sales tax prices are already more expensive than american WITH sales tax
