I noticed new batteries airstream > Are they heavier than the original ones and what is the real difference ?

I think several dealers in the sales area section covered some of this, esp. the differences between the existing batteries and the incoming AirStream versions.

Side-by-side comparison using the 5.2ah battery, the AirStream battery is ¼ pound heavier. So, negligible.

The advantage of AirStream is very simply better charge times, up to 60% according to Festool.

You can shop all of the Festool AirStream products and cordless kits on our website.

Are they all interoperable?  Old chargers with new batteries and vice versa?

Guys, there's a good thread with a lot of info on the new product offerings coming in April over here:

Yes, you can use the batteries and chargers interchangeably. However, using a non-Airstream battery with the Airstream charger will not have the benefits of faster charging. Likewise if you use the Airstream batteries with a non-Airstream charger.
