A few days ago I bought a PS 400/Carvex, a T15+3 and an OF 1400. These are my first Festools since the TS 55+midi I bought a year ago and which lead me down this slippery (and rather expensive) slope. I have been like a child around Christmas since and nobody really understands me. My spouse got annoyed when I sat playing with the T15+3 next to her in the sofa and she is tired of hearing about how well thought through all the parts are.

The only real fly in the ointment is that for some reason my supplier got the order mixed up and when I got home the box contained an OF 1010 instead of the 1400 that I was expecting. I still haven't gotten the real router so I still have something to look forward to.

I also got a bit scared yesterday when I read on a forum that the T+3 line was being replaced but the model I got was one of the new ones (with belt clips and LED light). I guess most people in the forums are Americans. Festool is one of the few areas where we can be way ahead of you guys when it comes to getting the new stuff. It's that and Spotify.

A few observations:

T-locs don't integrate as well with classic systainers as I had expected. There is a gap between them and the connection does not feel really solid. The front latches were also almost impossible to unlatch until I realized that you aren't supposed to. Just slip the t-loc in from behind and latch it on the sides. I had planned on getting a bunch of classics for my old tools but now I'm not so sure.

The T+3 chucks are solid. They really feel like a part of the tool. The T15+3 also felt a lot heavier than I had anticipated. I have held it before but only briefly. I almost regret not getting the T12+3 instead. At least the weight is offset slightly by the excellent balance of the driver. I compared it to an 18V Bosch driver that I had access to and which was clearly top heavy.

The T+3 standard keyless chuck was very noisy first time I tried it. It still is, but only when it tightens up around the bit. Is this to be expected?

AMA,
[welcome] to the FOG!  What a great bunch of new tools!  Yes, a great number of our members are in North America, so you historically have had the opportunity to see, touch, and use Festools before we do.

The chuck is a ratcheting chuck so it will make noise as it tightens up around the bit or driver.

When you get a chance to use them and make something, we would love to see!

Welcome ama

Sounds like you had a good day  [big grin]  I don't have any of the t drills but have a few of the c drills as i prefer them in my hand.  The chuck in my c15 does make a slight clicking sound but that is good as you can tell it is tightening on the bit whereas my older c12's chucks are not as good.

Woodguy.

Firts let me say   [welcome]    to FOG and all it has to offer.
I agree on the difference in the T loc's and classic systainers when it comes to being put together as one.
I do not put my T loc's with classic's any more because I have had them come apart when I was carring them back to my truck at the end of a day.
I am slowly learning how to keepthem apart for my own good.

[welcome] to the fog.
sounds like you fell head over heals down the slippery slope.
we getting the tools before the us gets them is a double edged sword. yes we get to place earlier but we also get any faults and design issues aswell.
at least we get all the tolol line up not like the us etc that dont get the
carvex [big grin]
the hole cms line up[smile]
poresicio :P
