I have not used my track saw for woodworking and trying to get used to how it operates. For some reason the blade will not go down very far. Will not plunge. I have the batteries out and the green bar that allows the blade to lock when changing to a new one is not engaged. I can't figure out what would keep the blade from going down past 1" or so. Any thoughts?

Are you aware of the function of the depth stop? Give it a little squeeze toward the scale and lower it a bit more. It should be able to be adjusted so that the blade stops as shallow as barely scratching the surface, and at full depth it should be over 2"

I found the problem. the green plastic splinter guard was keeping the blade from plunging. I cannot use the saw with the blade attached even if I moved the guard all the way down. Oh well. I have the one attached to the rails. Thank you for responding.

That green splinter guard is supposed to be cut by the saw. That makes it truly zero-clearance. It's just like when you cut the plastic strip on the rail itself, on a brand new rail.
