I found this on Ron Paulk's Facebook page.  If you have not heard, he is holding a contest for jig ideas, with the Festool prizes! Anyway I spotted a new twist on parellel guides and wondered if anyone else had ever seen this or tried it.  It look genius to me. Thanks Emily Adams!
It looks like it would be way eaiser to use, and cheaper than the ridgid Festool ones, and...you can store them in a systainer!!!

Go to Ron Paulks facebook site and enter your original idea for a jig!

wow that's pretty cool. I hope someone tries it. I would love to see it in action

Man... that is one of those items where you think... "why didn't I think of that?"  I was just using that the other day with my Carvex too!

Great job Emily... I hope you are a member or lurker here so you can see these comments.

Very smart thinking there.

Cheers.  Bryan.

Hmmmm... I could draw them up in 3d so they could be 3d printed or CNC'ed...

Very nice. Where can I find the green part and tape measure I do not recognize it. Am I missing something obvious?

Hi guys, sorry I'm late to the party. I'm Emily Adams the creator of the parrellel guides. I'm glad you like my idea.  [big grin]  feel free to ask me any question. The plans can be found on Rons Facebook page.

Welcome, Emily, I like your parallel guides. Nice idea, and execution on them.
Rick

this great idea was brought up on here before when ron paulk announced the winners of the jig contest, where it took first place.  for some strange reason it didn't get a lot of comments, perhaps because the thread devolved into some discussion about Facebook.
http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/paulk-woodworking-jig-challenge-winners!/

but now that it's getting the attention it deserves, i'm wondering if parts from the precision or the woodpecker parallel guide setup can be used in conjunction with emily's idea--in particular the part that attaches to the rail, so you can have a nice aluminum part there instead of the wood..  does anyone know if you can buy specific system components from precision?

Thank you thank you. I have been lurking around for a while and been meaning to join but never felt I had much to contribute. You guys are already so talented and capable.

i stand corrected--how can anyone argue with such a precise, down to the minute rebuttal?  i suppose i don't read the forum as closely as some of the diehards.

anyhew, i'm still interested if anyone looked into the specifics i mentioned:  mating the circle guide to the guide rail attachment head piece from the precision tools parallel guide?

Capable as we I may be, this idea started a whole new train of thought for me.  I wonder if...  THIS is the way I like to start my mornings.

I know what you mean by gaining a new train of thought.  when i was researching different solutions all of the designs seamed to be the same.  I took me a good amount of time to think differently and really understand the problem i wanted to solve.  Solutions are easier once you understand the problem completely.
