New Vac-Sys Clamping system for 2020?

I agree with you fellows about saying I have everything I need.  Well almost.  I’ve been wanting this system for years and I’m really tempted to pull the trigger before April.  This is one item you don’t see often in the classified section.  Every now and then one will come up but it’s gone in minutes.

Good thread, how much money is going to be spent just from this one post being started

Thanks for the info.

If you work on anything over 36” long then it’s worthwhile getting the two head set.  The second head makes working on the larger pieces far more stable.  You can also get a second foot peddle and work on two pieces at the same time with two heads.

One thing to keep in mind is that a pump lacking a logo of certain green can be had for quite a lot less, the 110V one in the US isn't in a systainer anyway...

Here's a Milwaukee vacuum pump made by Gast that came off of a Milwaukee Vac-U-Rig diamond core drill. I just ordered some spare Festool parts and changed it over to use with the VAC SYS. This pump saved me $850.

Others here have adapted vacuum pumps from other items.

It really depends upon what you do. I've used a single cup on 8" wide stock up to about 8' long. The nice thing about using a single cup is the rotate function. Doors or long cabinet tops would require 2 cups.

The thing is pretty bomb proof, I've never heard anyone have an issue or complain about it except for the cost of the MFT adapter.

Here's a shot of a single cup being used on a 48" x 30" ply cabinet side. First used to place Dominos in the edge and then used with the rotate function to sand the top surface.

So like a total duffus I had to make a cabinet recently using dominos and LR32. Grabbed my collection of 80/20 extensions and cobbled together an extension to my work cart and proceeded to clamp/flip/rotate/clamp and merrily bore holes for an hour or so.

Never occurred to me to slide my vac-sys over and use it... duffus...
