Hi Festool,
Love your tools but I'm wondering why Festool does not make a hard pad for the Ets 125 sander. I'm thinking about buying an Ets sander and RO sander of the same size (125 or150).. I do allot of flat work and worry about rounding edges without the hard sanding pad option for the Ets 125. I currently have the RO90 and love it, just need a larger sanding option. Your response would be appreciated

Doesn't solve the 125 issue, but I'll say the ETS150/3 is an awesome sander. I'd consider the DTS400 and ETS150/3 as my fine finish pair.

I think if you are following the RO just to do a finish pass the soft pad is the better option. The harder the pad the deeper the scratch pattern tends to be. I have a RO 150 and ETS 150 and run a hard pad on the RO for getting everything nice and flat then follow with the ETS to finish grit.

No hard pad for the ETS125, the RTS400 and the DTS400.

Truly a great omission.  [sad]

I guess Festool does not envision these sanders for a bit harder work.

I agree with oldwood. I have the sander combo you are thinking of buying and I haven't missed a having a hard pad for the ETS 125. I use the hard pad with the RO125 when needs be, and when I switch to the ETS 125 it is usually in the higher grits so rounding over edges is not so much an issue.

You could also make your own pad from a 1/8" piece of wood, cut it to shape, stick some velcro on each side and drill it out to the same hole pattern as the ETS pad.
