lets get over it
kapex : good :light weight, good dust collection, accurate, dual lasers, oversized arbor = stable blade, great bevel adjust, quiet, soft start, smooth slide function, no back rail projection, good standard blade.
bad : table not machined flat, must be used with dust collector, no use with generator, combination of stiff table no detente overide along with not as solid as other saws miter lock, overly complicated safety and blade guard, and higher than average motor failure.
dewalt dws 780 good : big capacity, light for 12" saw, price often 600 with stand, great chop saw, light shadow line, simple and durable to use, no safety good blade guard, bevels to 49, miter detent overide.
bad: no soft start, mediocre slide motion with too strong head spring, underpowered for 12" saw, blade drift on shave cuts, and mediocre bevel ability, poor standard blade.
makita ls1216l and 1016l good : smooth slide, excellent power and capacity, laser, smooth miter adjust with solid miter lock, soft start, quiet, good start blade.
bad : to bevel past 45 must reset 45 detent, awkward miter lock motion, squishy o bevel set, dust collection.
bosch glide saws good : good capacity and power, no back rail projection, up front controls, detent overide.
bad : no soft start, HEAVY BEASTS, no light or lasers, upfront controls heavy in use and complicated bevel adjusting, loud, poor standard blade.
dewalt dw717 good : good capacity, fairly light, good power, simple to use and adjust
bad : bevel lock not as solid as others outside of detents, expensive once one adds the shadow light, poor standard blade, dust collection, vertical cutting limitations
milwaukee 12" good : good capacity, soft start, dust collection, lights, easy to adjust bevel, power, no safety, smooth slider, little deflection
bad : poor blade, dust collection shroud can be in the way, heavy, complicated to reset bevel settings, gimmicky with digital miter and silly micro adjust
ridgid 10" good
rice, capacity, soft start, lights, smotth slider
bad loose miter detents, poor laser, issues with bevel lock, long rear slider protusion, takes extra time to get to full speed.
hitachi c10fsa the standard good : light weight, little deflection, lasts forever
bad : blade guard, mediocre power, slides seem to get sticky aftet use ( dirt?) mediocre capacity and power
new ridgid 12" have not seen it yet
new milwaukee m18 10" have not seen it yet (but keeping fingers crossed)
new dewalt flexvolt 12: same 780 just more expensive and heavier and can be used with new batteries
