I thought you had posted this before?  One question that had come up is using the D36 hose instead of the D27.

It should work with the TS-55 EQ.  If it doesn't I will be happy to refund your money.

Thanks / ordered.

I forgot to mention that we have a 36mm Domino quick connect as well.  We are working on one for sanders as well.

We also have connectors for track saws and dominos for

1.25" or 32mm

1.4" or 35mm

Festool Cleantec 27mm twist lock

Festool Cleantec 36mm

Ridgid 1 7/8"
You can get them  here.  (Shameless plug)

Thanks

Why not make some of these adapters work with BOTH a 27mm and 36mm hose? I ran into that with the RAS115 adapter

TLDR: We designed our ports to be quick-connect ports.  Which allows you to effortlessly move the vacuum hose between tools.  We sacrificed dual functionality for ease of use.  Which is different from Festools' approach.

Mort,
That is a great and interesting question. Most Festool dust ports are "dual" size ports. A 27mm / 36mm dust port comes standard on their track saws, routers, and Kapex.  To accomplish this dual-port they seem to have had to compromise the ease of use for both ports. They have decreased the size of the ID of the 27mm portion of the port and increased the OD of the 36mm portion of the port.

The 27mm twist-lock uses the interior of the 27mm /36mm dust port. The OD of the 27mm hose is 36.2mm, while the ID of the port it goes into is 36mm.  The port is actually smaller than the vacuum hose.  This is why it requires some force to push in.  The 36mm twist-lock goes around the outside of the 27mm/36mm port.  The ID of the 36mm hoses ID is 36mm, but the OD of the port is 39.5mm + the thickness of their twist-lock tabs. The port being larger than the hose is what requires so many forces to attach the hose.

I designed our replacement ports to be "quick connect".  I increased the size of the ID on the 27mm port so that the 27mm twist-lock glides in and twists securely with absolutely minimal force. Along with decreasing the OD on the 36mm port so that the 36mm hose quickly connects as well. We generally find that people have one size of dust extractor hose and they would rather have ease of use 95% of the time, than frustration 100% of the time.

What do you guys think?  Right decision or wrong?

Thanks,

I use my 36mm hose on a boom, so the amount of friction isn't super important.  Easy on/off sounds great.

The Toolcurve adapter I use on the OF1010 is right on, it actually uses the bayonet lugs instead of friction, so the hose comes out without a fight once you rotate it.  It's fantastic.

I have some older tools (e.g. 1010 router) that have the oval ports. Can the adapters be switched between tools or do they permanently attach to the tool?  I did purchase one of the newer 28mm hoses too replace the older style rib hoses.

Andy- check your stock.  Mine came in today, and is NOT a good fit on the 36mm.

I wrapped it in a layer of heat shrink, and it's fine now- but you might be batching em out with the wrong dimensions.  Take a look before too many ship out.

I am actually testing a few things out to make our adapters work with both the 27m and 36mm hoses and hopefully will have everything updated for those soon. John

tsmi243,

I am sorry that you had to do that. Can you send me a video or picture of your fit? I am happy to send you a new one!

Thanks,
-Andy

No worries, it's working out great with the heat shrink on it.  I'm using the Festool 500670 hose end, FYI.  Did I order the right version?

I tried to measure the OD on your adapter just now, but the heatshrinking process has turned it into a bit of an oval..... so I can't get a reading.  It looked flawless out of the box, so my assumption was an inventory mixup, not a printing error.  If it's just me, then don't worry bout it.
