Noise of Festool impact vs. hydraulic impacts

I use it just to measure the relative noise from the tools so I have a comparative number. I don't know how truly accurate its readings.

I’m curious: did you ever compare your measurements to the technical specifications published by the manufacturer to see if your measurements show differences in noise levels like expected?

I installed the SPLnFFT app on my iPhone right before I changed the straight knives on my DW735 over to the Shelix cutters. Noise reduction on the DW735 was one of the main calling cards of the Shelix conversion and I wanted to verify the results with something more substantial than simply saying "it sure seems quieter".

It's supposed to be one of the most accurate sound level Apps available and only costs $2-$3.
