Hey guys,

After buying my K5 kreg jig i'm looking to get a systainer to put it into..

Along with that I thought, may as well get one to put my finishing nailer into..

Then there is my Drills that could do with a systainer..

There's also that thingymajig that could do with one too..

See where  I'm going here?

[eek]

Just wondering where you guys get your non marked systainers from here in the UK?

Thanks in advance,

~WW

Look at Vantainer.
Besides light grey and anthracite there are 7 different base-colours.

I've been looking at these this morning. My plumbing kit is in some old classic Festool systainers, and I wanted to change to T-Locs. I figured since it was my plumbing kit, I'd get the Tanos versions with blue latches to make it easy to differentiate.

All I can say is, the Tanos versions are FAR more expensive than Festool ones!!!

I want a sys4-sized sortainer (the one with two large drawers, that Festool don't do) - vantainer want nearly £140 for that! It's not on Warren's site either.

I also want a sys1 with the coloured boxes in - they want over £56 for that, too! The Festool version I can find for £35...

I never thought I'd be posting a complaint about someone charging more than Festool does... [eek]

Interesting comment that the Tanos cost more than Festool. Here in Canada the Tanos systainers are less expensive than the Festool version!? But, then again we seem to only have the Tanos grey or black systainers and no fancy colour spectrum like the UK does....

When buying Festool systainers you're a kind of billboard and promoting Festool.
You're sponsored from Festool and are getting kind of discount on the cost of the systainers.

Interesting logic. , normally when you buy a branded item you pay more for it because of the brand ( esspecially clothing) regardless of quality .

I'd try calling vantainer. I've been in discussions about van racking and they readily offered a 20% discount on systainers. But I do have to agree that their prices are somewhat steep! If they were more competitive I'd contemplate buying more from them. I do think each box comes with 20mm foam for the base and some for the lid though.

After a quick chat with Vantainer at Toolfair they did mention the discount off the website prices to me.

It always seems wrong to me putting none festool things in festool systainers. I need a few more t-loc's for different tools and fixings and thinking of the anthracite ones, hope they won't look grubby as quickly as the festool ones do.

Meh, they're toolboxes and festool doesn't sell every kind of tool I need just like I don't have the patience to have two separate boxes for something because I have a couple of different kinds.  I'm OCD but for some reason this one doesn't bug me at all.

I've got darn near everything in a mix of Tanos/Festool systainers.  Here in the USA, Tanos boxes usually cost 5-8$ less than same size Festool, and offer a few things that Festools doesn't, so I've picked them up when they were on sale or shipping was free.  As I understand it, the retailers' minimums for the colored boxes are fairly high, so we only have light grey and anthracite boxes with colored latches as a possibility from a couple sources.

Does anyone else think Systainers are just ridiculously over-priced?

Knowing a little about manufacturing processes for plastic, injection moulding, blow moulding, etc, I just can't understand how they can justify the cost of these plastic boxes!

Is there a shortage of Systainers?

Yes & no...
Back when all my tools were Milwaukees', I purchased the appropriate Milwaukee steel case for each tool. In order to transport them in a pickup, I had to stand the boxes on end and place a motorcycle cargo strap through all of the tool box handles to tie them together. Otherwise they just slid around the pickup bed and got beat up. Now it's just Systainers, connected to one another.

Also, those red steel boxes cost somewhere between $35-$50 each and that was over 15 years ago. Present cost of living increases probably makes them pretty close to current Systainer pricing.

I had the old style systainers for must be 20 years now and am happy with them so will stick with them although the cost of new catches is a pain at nealry 3 quid a pop I never really liked the Tloc though I gather it works.

I've just decided to expand my collection and have noticed that ebay is the place to go and buying from germany works out cheaper if you buy in bulk but  there are some crazy prices on makpac boxes which are tanos licensed and interchangable. a pair of size 1 for 30 quid and size three for 46 quid so I can buy twice as many to add to the 17 or so I allready have. some say they are cheap knock offs but the quality is fine if the design is ever so slightly different and I think they are boxes originally destined for the US markets going by the labels and oddly the size threes came with inserts I didn't want. tempted to get a stack of size 2s at these prices or some rather fetching black ones. size 4s work out similar to tanos prices at 80 quid a pair.

I might even splash out on some tanos size 5 which work out at 63 for a pair plus 12 or so in postage from germany.

mind you the beauty of having older stained sun faded boxes is that you can buy second hand and they wont stick out. trying for a makita plunge saw in an old style systainer at the moment although I should inherit a battered TS55 and VAC off my old boss when he retires next year. he kept saying he was quitting so couldn't justify festool expense - more fool him.

everyone thought I was bonkers for spending so much on the tools and then the boxes to put everything else in but when I was fitting kitchens none of the festo stuff let me down and am still using my 20 year old cdd12s ps200 jigsaw and eh65 planer. I even have an original 12v battery which lasts all day  [eek] although the mcu15 went pop I got another for 12 quid. I can leave the systainers outside all winter if needs be - bar the batteries, I love em  [blink]
