Would someone kindly explain to this newbie how having a -1 degree bevel cut capability on saws line the TS55/75 REQ comes in handy?

Couldn't one simply turn a piece 180 degrees and, say, an MFT/3 and cut at 1 degree to get the -1 degree cut of the piece when oriented in the original position?

I'm sorry to waste people's time.  I tried to search this first.  I plead ignorance.
 
By not needing to flip the piece you can very accurately place the cut line by using the rail.

Otherwise you would need to use some trig calculations to figure an offset and hope you got it right.

Definitely a valid question, and not a waste of time.  We all need to learn...
