For those of you that are in the NYC area (that would be you Edward [member=37411]ear3[/member] and others), I just noticed that Industry City Studios is having an open studio tour next weekend May 18 and 19. They are in Sunset Park Brooklyn.

If I could only go to one artist's studio it would be this one and he will only be open on May 18th. Matthias Pliessnig
He makes the most amazing sculptural forms for seating using strips of steam bent hardwood and lots and lots of work. I have never seen anything that even comes close.

Thanks for the heads up [member=3192]rvieceli[/member] That stuff looks incredible.  Sunset Park is actually pretty close to Tools For Working Wood.

Does anyone in the tri-state area know if there are places like this in CT?  I know of one at the Norwalk CT Woodcraft (great place with a great shop upstairs) but I'm looking for others options that may be closer to upper FFCounty or lower New Haven county.

I was able to reverse engineer his process with rhino and grasshopper, just need a Cnc, swanky studio, and some high end clients

Do you mean Tools for Working Wood? I'm interested myself as I have family in New Haven county but I always make the trip to TfWW when I'm visiting. It'd be cool if there was something in CT.

TfWW used to be in Industry City and now it's a 15-20 minute walk up the street. This guy has some shop space,http://www.matthias-studio.com/process/2016/3/7/p8923zskfxk19oy32vdrpvttx9gnat . Unfortunately Extraction Lab which also was in Industry City closed recently, so you can't get your $20 cup of coffee before touring the studio.
