Glad I found this post, I'm just about to undertake a job requiring 17 gates of varying sizes Using 5x2 stiles, top and bottom rails. I just today bought the long sought after domino Xl. It never occurred to me to through mortice with the tool and I must admit, on big joinery projects like this and doors I was a tad dubious about using it.

The gates look fantastic!  I do have a question though. Did u domino the spaced vertical slats on top into that curved top rail?  If so, how did u accomplish this?
