OBSOLETE - Posting photo error - help!

So frustrating.
When attempting to post with a photo attached, I get this:

"Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.

Please consult your server administrator for more information."

Image is .jpg, 4mb, and I'm posting from a Macbook Air. Same error occurs on other machines.

I've tried the following: editing my post with an added picture, posting a new reply to my post with a picture, various insertion options, various images of varying sizes, waiting a few days then trying again.

I always compress my images (Pixillion image converter, free) before uploading them to Festool. I had encountered your problem too many times until I went with the compression. I set the compression ratio to about 60 - 70% in jpeg format (my originals are usually between 3 - 5 MB each) which bring files to under 1 MB each.

I post my images from a Windows Computer.  I use Microsoft Paint to edit and resize the images to 25% of the original.  That brings the image size down from around 7MB to 200KB.  This allows me to add nearly 20 images to a post without any upload errors.

The handiest image manipulator for posting images to venues such as a forum that I have found is Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

It comes with Office so if you have that then you're set. It might not have been installed when you first setup Office but it should be on the DVD (or CD), rerun MS Office Setup.

You can also download it for free and use it even if you don't have MS Office.

The advantages are it does resizing and renaming of images in batches. You can rotate in tenths of a degree if you need to.
That's just a small bit of what it can do. What it can't do is draw. You can't add lines or such to an image. For that you'll still need MS Paint or some other software, but you can use the Windows Snipping Tool to do some basic annotation on images.

File naming/renaming is one of the best features. You can append to an existing filename, give multiple images the same name but with a serial number (Filename_01, Filename_02, etc).

When modifying an image you can save to the original file or make a copy and leave the original alone.

Attached are a couple quick screen shots, including one with the instruction from MS about download and installing.

Here's where to get MS Picture Manager from Microsoft. You need to download Sharepoint Designer and then do a custom install and install ONLY Picture Manager. It's legit and you're getting it from Microsoft so don't worry about the Software Police coming after you.
