Good Afternoon,
Frank Pellow has graciously agreed to be a judge in this month's contest.  That means he cannot compete this month.  But we can all still admire his great work justthe same!

I've added Frank's name to the list of judges for this month.

If anyone else is interested in being a judge, write me a note.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Good afternoon,
Let's get this month off to a good start...

Everyone, please nominate three or four projects for this month.  I know it's difficult, since we have so many great projects!  But that's also what makes this fun -- diving in and taking a closer look at what people have posted.

I'm hoping to get a good list of candidate projects together, which would allow us to have a more involved discussion this month.

Remember, try to go back in time to review all the great material that has been posted in the Member Projects, Jigs, Inventions, Tool Enhancements, and Reviews boards.  You don't only have to look at the most recent ones.  Anything that has not yet won a contest is eligible, no matter when it was posted.

So, let's hear it everyone!  Which projects do you nominate this month?

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Good Afternoon,
The judges are discussing their picks for this month...

We've also discussed the contest structure offline, and it was suggested to me that we have tool reviews be separated from projects.  I agree that is a better idea.  So, let's have this month's project be just about projects, and maybe next month we will have a contest just for tool reviews.

OK, we still need to hear from everyone.  Which are your favorite projects?

Thanks,
Matthew

I'm going to try to update my projects and bring my pics from the gallery but I've been in survival mode in my busineses so extra time is rare right now. Nothing new to bring to the table at this time. Good luck to my fellow members.

i just posted a project in the members project area for nomination for the contest.  Does someone else need to nominate it or what, or is that good enough what I did already.  ?

All projects are eligible.  No nomination is needed.

Let me start the list for October:

I really like the Dressing table WIP by KorDes. Very nice walkthrough of the build and you gotta love those sexy pulls! Inspiring work to a newbie such as myself.

Ken

Ken,
Thanks for jumping in!  Good timing, as we are nearing the end of the month.

The judges are starting to narrow down their choices for this month's contenders, and, as always, it's a challenge with so many great projects.

We need more people to post here about which projects they like for this month's contest.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Hello,

I think Mike's porch-rail-project is fantastic, it's been nominated before but I can't help feeling that this project deserves a price...

My two euro-cents...

AND THE WINNER IS...

As always, there was a long list of worthy projects this month!  The judges considered them all, and made a decision...

For this month, the winner is Mike Chrest's Porch Railing Project (Mettes nailed it).

Mike will receive $400 towards any tool of his choice from Festool.

Congtratulations to Mike!

Stay in touch,
Matthew

Congratulations Mike
I was very impressed also with your Porch Railings project and the way that you handled it.

Very well done.

Greg

Woo Hooo!!! ;D Thank you guys.

It was a challenging project but the results were very gratifying. It really feels great to get acknowledgement from your peers. There were so many wonderful projects posted lately. I hope the Members Projects area continues to draw the high quality postings we have seen.

I have been pondering the Festool goodies I need next and it looks like a shelf pin drilling jig & guide rail is in my future 8).

Again, thanks to Matthew,Festool USA, and Porch Railing fans everywhere.
Mike

Congrats Mike. Your porch project was very well done.

So whatcha gonna buy?

Dan Clermont

Hi Dan,
I think I'll get the hole drilling system and a guide rail with a bunch of holes in it. ;D

Congrats Mike!  I bought the LR32 system off of ebay last week and had a chance to use it yesterday.  It worked great, was simple to use and as always....no dust.  I think you'll enjoy it.  If you haven't thought about this already I would recommend going with something longer than the 42" rail.  For the project I was using it on yesterday the 42" wasn't long enough so I had to move it.  Not a big deal but I was building four different cabinets so it was a lot of wasted time and movement.
