OCTOBER 2008: $400 Towards Any Tool

rtn80,
I would recommend going with something longer than the 42" rail.
I was planning on getting the shorter rail. How difficult is it to move the rail and reorient for longer parts? Time estimate?  What size do you think would be best? I like the short rails for portability.  I have one long rail now 9' and it is a pain fitting it into the truck with all my other gear.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is how often are you going to need the longer rail. It's not very hard, but does take some time consuming to move the short rail. You're going to need a short rail no matter what because the long rail will be too hard to use on the bulk of projects. Try out the short and see if you need the long one too.

Hi Brice,
Yup, that was my thinking. I'll get a short rail and join a second one if I see a bigger project in the future.

Good Morning,
I'm excited about all the contests we've had so far.  It's a lot of work making them happen, but it's worth it to see people get involved in the whole life of the forum.

I urge everyone to head over to the discussion on the November contest.  We have a whole new system in place, with dealer sponsorships.  Member TJtools, with Beaver Tools, is sponsoring the November contest.  Other dealers will sponsor future months, with different themes each month.

Get involved, and make the new contest just as exciting as the last ones ---> just click here!

Stay in touch,
Matthew

congrats Mike. Sorry for the late response, but I had to get a new computer and I was unable to access the internet until I did get one.
