My OF 1010 has a real squeal while i have used it the last couple of times. Anyone else have this.  It is cold like probably -5 to -10 Celsius not sure if that is part of it.  If it is a problem i would like to get it sorted before the end of year one.

I don't remember reading about a squealing OF1010 here before - but of course my memory is not infallible.  Does it all the time or just under load?  Why not try bringing the router into a warm room and letting it get warm up and then trying again?  Of course you probably won't be able to get in touch with Festool Canada until after the Christmas holiday and possibly Boxing Day.

Maybe someone else will chime in if they have some ideas.

presuming the brushes are ok. then the only other moving part is the bearings.
i dont think the cold would affect good bearings. \
after a few seconds etc the friction inside would heat up the lubricant.
i would send it in . one of the bearings is shot or looing lubricant..

give festool a call as soon as they are open.

i am sure shane would love a call around dinnertime  tomorrow. lol

try sping it by hand and listening to  judge where the squeel is coming from

how old is it ?

i'm debating the 1010 vs dewalts 1.25 router with leds and the bosch colt.

My guess is after reading his post is less than one year old.  But I might be wrong.

I have a 1010 just over a year old and am amazed at how quiet and smooth running it is compared to other routers. Id send her in

Yeah i bought is just before the last price increase.  Kind of embarrassing how little i have used it.  I will bring it inside and see how it runs, i can't believe i never thought to do that.  I was going to call festool but i could not spare it for any amount of time till this afternoon when in finally finished the kids presents.

Sounds like bearings to me -- I would give Festool a call and see what they say and get it in while under warranty.
