OF 1400 EQ locking spindle issue

I realize that the solution to my question will probably be to send my OF 1400 EQ router in for repairs, but I thought that maybe the forum may have an answer. The switch to lock the spindle (for changing bits) only works in one direction, for inserting the tool. The switch will not press down and engage in the opposite direction to remove the tool. This has never happened before and is now happening after milling approximately 48 feet of 12 mm dados in Baltic birch plywood.

Fortunately there are flats on the shaft that accept a 22 mm wrench so I may remove the tool and collet using two wrenches.

Check to make sure the trigger lock is not pressed in.

I learned the hard way in the middle of doing a demo with the CMS.  It happens.

Ok, I get why the trigger lock could also lock-out the spindle ratchet mechanism.....but why only one direction? [member=3346]dwillis[/member] clearly stated it still worked to insert the bit
