OF 1400 Guide stop adjustment

Its impossible for me to keep the screws that adjust the guide stop clearance to the rail tight. Every time I turn around they have backed out. Seems like it should be a nylock nut in there or something.

Anyone having the same issue and come up with a good fix?

Loctite Blue is meant for threads that have to be removed intentionally but to hold when you aren't trying to move them with a driver.

I had considered that but thought even blue might be a little aggressive.

Wondering if this is something Festool normally does and mine just got missed.

This frustrated me with my 1010..I tightened em down pretty good and so far they haven't loosened. Actually I am going to double check again now..I don't love the design of that quite honestly. I think I would be fine with locking them down with loctite actually and I might do it if they loosen again. The blue stuff I am pretty sure can be broken easily if needed.

Most Loctite products cannot be used on plastic. You need to use Loctite Assure 425 in this application. It is for both pre and after torque situations.

RRM---Try tightening yours so it just pushes the plastic enough to bow it a bit..I checked mine tonight, after alot of use lately and they are still as tight as can be. I had the same problem until I dialed em in just right, but it took tightening the screw against the plastic part of the rail guide so it pushes against it enough to bow it out a little.

I was hesitant to recommend Loctite Blue until I looked at mine and a couple of others. They are metal-to-metal. The nuts are nestled in plastic as are the screws.

I noticed that on mine, there was nothing on the threads. On some other new ones, there was something that looked tan colored. I've seen a similar-looking compound on screws for new sanding pads. I assumed it was either lithium grease or something with which I was not familiar.

I am not a Loctite expert by any means. I have used Blue in the past when I knew I wanted to take something apart again and it holds well but allows removal without destruction. It also didn't allow "backing out" accidentally.

The 425 is, blue medium strength. Hand tool removable, works on steel and plastic.
