Hey All,

I am really interested in the CMS extention for my MFT/3 but am not so interested in the price right now.  I have dropped over 4 K lately on tools so cant justify it as of right now so I am looking for alternatives.  Been browsing around here (and elsewhere) looking for ideas and I think i have a good one that wont cost a fortune.

I want to buy the CMS insert and another MFT/3 and mill out the center of the top to drop this in.  (Insert Festool mod warning here)

I have seen other setups similar and I think it would work well for my needs and budget right now.  Then when it comes time to drop the 1300, I will also have a second MFT/3 for additional bench space, a second insert (not sure I would keep it) and can take full advantage of my 1400.  I know that there are a lot of other better (and perhaps cheaper) solutions out there, but I think this is my preference.  Either that or try to jig the crap out of everything to work my upcoming projects (built-ins, drawer box replacements, misc. things)

If there IS a way to get by without a table for rails and stiles, I haven't found it yet...

Cheers

WoodWerks in Columbus used to sell a MFT Bench Dog setup. It had a MFT replacement table with router table insert and fence. They sold them off a while ago, but maybe someone there could help you with the setup you want.

Is this what you are referencing?  http://www.woodwerks.com/festop/

Seems slick and fairly complete.  I think i might pull the trigger on it.  Does anyone know if the CMS sliding table can be adapted to work on an MFT/3?  My guess (because I haven't looked at it at all) is that the answer is "no".

Cheers
