OF 2200 Compatibility with LR 32 Drilling System

I was going to order the OF 2200 Router.  However, it seams that the OF2200 is not compatible with the LR32 Drilling system.  I don't have any Festool dealers near by where I could look at the products to confirm this.  The Hole Drilling Set page and a few posts only hint to this incompatibility.

Is there another drilling set for the OF 2200 available either from Festool or from a third party?

If not, can anyone please briefly explain the reason for this.

Thank you for your time.

The OF2200 is definitely not compatible with the LR32 system. The base on the router is too large to fit on the drilling guide without some serious modifications (you have to grind off the existing router mounting bolts).

I went thru the same exercise as you wanting to use an OF2200 but decided that it would require too much modification, that could not be reversed, to the LR32. Then tried to use any other existing router, adapted an ELU MOF96 which I did get to fit by drilling two holes, but in the end went out and bought an OF1010 to use with the LR32.

The large routers are PITA and significant overkill to use with the LR32 whilst the OF1010 is real nice, quick and comfortable.

Thank you for confirming this  :(
I am guessing that Festool does not think that a hole drilling system for the OF 2200 would sell and is not worth their effort?

I currently have the Dewalt D26204 and was hoping to get a nice router to cover the other end of the spectrum. I really like the 2200 vs the 1400.

The Dewalt looks about the same size as the Elu so it may be easy to adapt it to the LR32 plate.

I agree with you that the 2200 is a very nice to use router hand held and even better in a CMS-OF with an Incra fence.
(The Festool CMS-OF fence is a POS)

I think you would throw the OF2200 through the window after doing a few holes out of frustration, it's way to big and heavy to be convenient for such a task. A light pistol grip router is a must so you can hold the jig with one hand and press the release on it while advancing and pushing down the router with the other hand, impractical with a normal handle router.

Bosch now has their 32mm system with a universal baseplate, they now also make pistol grip routers like Festool probably because they finally realized how much easier they are to operate with one hand.

I find that if I'm doing a lot of holes I tend to press the router down, not with the handle, with my hand flat on the top of the router. The other hand operates the release toggle.

[member=36526]Bohdan[/member] same here, but if i recall correctly my previous and current Bosch routers all had their cooling vents on top. Not all routers can be used for an extended amount of time in such a way.

The OF 2200 is a monster better left to other tasks.  What it does, it does well, but use with the LR 32 is not on the list.  The OF 1010 seems to be the absolute best tool for use with the LR 32.  It's light and very sweet to use.  I lock the motor on and go for it with my hand on top of the router,  Very smooth and easy.
