OF 2200, keeps failing

Has anyone else had trouble with an OF2200?

My one was repaired by Festool UK at three years old, they replaced the brushes and bearing cover  after it started running erratically and burning at the brushes when the switch was let off until the motor stopped. After a few months it required the same repair again and all seemed fine. It managed about four hours of work and it stopped working completely after another wild speed session, this was more than six months after the repair so it took some negotiating but they kindly agreed to repair it for free, this time replacing the electronic part. Six months later it's gone again, just outside the repair warranty again.
This time I'm not going to pester them as they have been very good and I'm grateful.
If anyone has any ideas why this machine keeps giving up after very short working hours I would be glad to hear as it's a good machine to use and the accessory kit is fantastic alongside but sadly I am wary of spending on more repairs.

I would politely point out the root cause has yet to be discovered.

Just curious - what's electrical source(s) have been used for the tool?
Clean mains, generator(s), transformer(s)...
Sure I've read in the past that the OF2200 might not behave properly
unless good quality supply used.

Thanks for your comments and to answer Fuzzy's question about the power - it's always been direct mains and occasionally via a Midi vac but 99% direct.
I would be really glad to hear from anyone who has had really good service from one of these as well.

Thanks Shane I would be glad to talk to someone about it, I can't help but feel they might think I'm at it when I say things like "less than a days work" but really it has been that way. I have a spindle moulder which I use for most mouldings and grooves etc  and an OF1010 which take care of the little stuff.  The 2200 only comes out the box once in a blue Moon and the workshop is warm and dry so it's got me baffled.

You should just send it back in I'm pretty sure that festool uk won't think it's a pain. To them it will be just another job number. Granted it feels awkward to you. You say you are running off direct current 99% of the time. There isn't any faults in supply or power surges that might have caused an overload. All your cables in good condition also are the cables rated to take the load of the router. Is it 110 or 240

I don't think there have been any surges or the like also I had the supply upgraded for  three phase at the start of last year so there is no "dipping" when things start up. It's all 240v hand power tools.

I’m uk based and have an OF2200 that failed and was repaired during warranty, 3 times in 3 years, one time requiring similar repair, motor brushes bearings, electronic control etc..... Now it has failed again at 3 years and 5 months old, the Uk Festool service centre have diagnosed and quoted for the same repair at a quoted cost inc vat of over £500.

I’m really not happy, having purchased an expensive ‘quality’ router that has only lasted just over 3 years and has suffered the same fault, that requires such costly repairs.

I only use this router to machine 12mm x 35mm Mortice and tenon joints, 15 mm depth. I timed the Mortice which takes 10 seconds and that includes 3-4 seconds allowance for router to run to full speed. Tenons take about 25 seconds.

Summary is that it’s a very accurate router but appears to have poor reliability!

Festool Uk are going to call tomorrow, I’m hoping they will do the right thing regarding the repair costs!

One thing to consider if you're running it without dust collection, or maybe even with, dust can build up internally and cause it to to stop and or not start.

Yesterday, another of my OF2200 router stopped working, only 15 months old, warranty repair  booked with Festool UK. I have 3 of these routers, 2 are in frequent use and the 3rd is my spare waiting to step up when one of my working routers fail.....I power these through my Festool CTM 36 on auto. I have noticed that these router expel quite a lot of carbon dust from the motor brushes.....I started using a new OF2200 last week and the black dust appeared on day 1 of use....
