Hi all,
well, today I bought the little os1010ebq at my local dealer. While I am new to routers, I threw my old one away and inserted a bit in the OF. As it's 6mm shaft, I also had the fitting holder for that too. On top of he clear plactis cover for dc, there'sa "lid" that can pop off.
My problem is that I had to tkae this "lid" off, to get mt biy into the shaftholder long enough to keep it stable. This meant that I couldn't suck too much dust out through the CT-Mini, as I expected, actually not very much at all. I have tried the extra plastic bit underneath the routerbase, together wit playing with the suction of the CT-Mini, but to no real difference.
So I would like to be able to rout with the little "lid" in place. How do I do that?

Otherwise the router performed quite well, and I finished my job. But I had to vacuum clean all over afterwards  [mad] [mad] [mad]

Cheers,

Jacques,

I would love to see a picture of the way your router was set up when you were not getting decent dust collection.  Someone here might be able to offer suggestions.  We have a great bunch of members here who are always willing to help.

Hi Peter,
I'm on my way out, so I'll get back later this evening. I have left the iron in the OF?, so I can quickly replicate the setup.
I'll post pics.

Jacques, there's a really simple solution. Take the lid off and slide it up above the collet, install the bit. Then set the depth of the bit and replace the lid. Just remember you release the plunge mechanism without first removing the lid or you could break the lid.

Hi Peter and Brice,
Thanks for the info. Yes, I suppose that's the solution to get propper dc. I took some pics and I just read this post, and Brice's picture is pretty much the same. That is that the cutting iron I have inserted is too big to come up & down though the small hole in the DC cover. I guess that it's pretty simple and troublefree with smaller bits. I also use the lower dc swivel cover whenever possible.
I'll make a test monday to see if this helps, and report back.
Btw. I think that the OF1010ebq should have had a snap on copyring system like the OF1400  [unsure],  but then again, you can't have it all in the smallest model. I think there are many tasks on the way with this small but steady router, so I'll have to empty those tasks for sure, before thinking of a bigger model. But the system for tightening the router bit on the OF1400 is smart too. I just didn't see the need for it for my purposes.

Cheers,

ot: I just put up a 17 meter raft fence today with my new T15+3 and what I found is that it's almost unexhaustable on batteries, since I did not have to swap it, certainly compared to my yellow one, and my blue one, and it's so light, that I didn't feel to put it down in between the screwing. Really really nice machine  ;D

With the lid on and the chip catcher (lower dc swivel cover) the dust collection should be very good, assuming you have the chip catcher orientated correctly as you rout.

Yes the 1400 is a very refined router. If it were possible to have the self centering copying rings on the 1010 that would be great. I can live without the ratcheting collet.

The T15 might be a favorite Festool tool and one I use the most.

Hi all,
Thanks for the answers. Since I'm new to routers, I have a simple question:
When cutting a number of parallel cavities into the tabletop surface to lay some stainless steel bars into them to place hot pots, I've made a test on another piece of wood, and making a scheme for routing with a pencil, it came out all right, but I would like to know, if there's a nimble thingie to adjust for the irons diameter (lengthwise - that is along the routed track) possibly very exact with microadjustment, rather than measuring it, divide it by two, and subtracting it from the desired length of the cavity?

In this setup the cutting iron is small and dc is quite good  [big grin]

Cheers,
Jacques  [smile]
