OF1400 sticky plunge action

Anybody recommend any cleaners and or lubes to use on the plunge posts? Thanks a bunch.

It should be enough to just clean the moving parts/rods with a clean rag. Maybe some WD40... but not sure....

No WD40 for me. I use the spray made for frictionless sliding called Top Coat.

Eliminates friction on table saws and hand tools! Repels dust and moisture plus prevents rust and corrosion.

Spray that Dynaglide on and the movement is noticeably better. I used it on my Micro Fence and on that it was night and day. I sprayed it on the Festool router posts and it made them really slick and easy to plunge one handed.

Both products you should rub the excess off after spraying with a cloth or paper towel.

I think Top Coat would be the correct product to use although I'd call Festool Tech Support on Monday to make sure

WD-40 (WD stands for Water Displacement) is a penetrating oil, not a lubricant.  It works great to get things that are stuck moving again, but does not provide lasting lubrication.  Top Coat or similar products would be better.  If you lube at all, you would want a product that dries thoroughly and will not attract dust.

BTW, I have never lubed my OF1400 and the other day (after 3 years use) I noticed a little corrosion on the posts.  That really surprised me as I live in the desert, usually less than 10% humidity - things just don't rust out here....
