OF2200 and MFK700 Routers - Dust collection and Soft-Start

I have two questions about the new routers, if I may...

Much has been made of the excellent dust collection on the new OF2200 router, but can I ask what it's like on the new MFK700?

I have two non-Festool routers that both state that they have soft-start. Whilst both of them ramp up the speed, the Triton gives a noticeable torque reaction when I switch it on, no matter how firmly I hold it, whilst the Bosch doesn't. What's the initial torque reaction like on the MFK700 and OF2200?

Forrest, both the 2200 and 700 have MMC electronics with overload protection, steep-less variable speed, also provides constant speed under load and soft start features. The dust collection on the MFK700 is very good, at least for what we did when we tried it Henderson.

Thanks for the reply     My Triton is also advertised as being "powered by a smooth 2000W motor with soft start and variable speed features", but it still jumps on start-up, so I'm now a bit wary or the phrase "sort-start"!  Although it's been said that you can leave the OF2200 running on the bench unattended without it "walking" across the surface, do you (or anyone else who has used the machine) remember feeling any torque reaction on start-up?

  Forrest, like the rest of Festool router lineup you don't get a big jolt at start up. You can feel the torque increase as the motor gets up to speed, but not a unsafe jolt.

Thanks! I'm not too sure if a router will be my next Festool purchase, but it's certainly on the shopping list!

I tried both routers.  And I was fortunate to test the OF2200 on the solid surface slab.  I didn't feel any start up torque from either. 

Of course there could be some very good reasons for this.  Because the MFK700 is fairly small, maybe it doesn't have much start up torque.  OTOH, the OF2200 is pretty heavy.  Maybe that accounted for it.

That's good news

Yeah, the same idea that no torque reaction was partly due to one being low in power, and the other being (very!) heavy, went through my mind too! It looks like the Festool engineers have designed the start-up electronics to deliver just the right amount of start-up acceleration to avoid any jump in both machines.
