My favourite new router is arcing quite severely in the top vents (brushes I presume) I need advice do I phone festool and send back or is this normal as new (I doubt this but thought I would ask the question) the machine is 110v

hi
I've had mine for about a year, and i have noticed this as well.

However i dont use it that often but the bushes have seated in by now, with the use its had over the year , and i was also considering sending back to festool.

Mine is also 110v

Please let me know what you intend doing or get feedback from festal

A similar report was made from another forum member from the UK just this week, but about the OF 1400. I recommended contacting Festool UK for assistance. Could you please report back what you find? Thanks.

I have never seen this in mine.
Doesn't sound right.

i have a makita router, big half inch with led lights. dunno what the model is. That does spark a bit in use. it lights up the inside of it lol works fine though.

I used it today but didn't notice any arcing BUT I was very busy trying to finish a job so may have not paid any notice.
I'll try it again tomorrow

I've got two UK OF1400's that both spark, used them for years with no problems, I just assumed that's what they do!

I'm no expert but all electric motors produce a spark as long as there is no burning smell or the spark is a bright blue I would presume is ok
