My 14 year old TS-55 (only light hobbyist use) started leaking oil.  It has been mounted upside down on a CMS for a while.  Today I noticed oily grease has leaked on the handle and switches.  Found some old threads with similar reports.
Now how critical is this?  What should be done to service it?  Possible to DIY?

Probably a Festool service job. Unless you have a particular skill in electromechanical servicing. Although at 14 years old, by the time you take into account postage, labour and parts, I'd be thinking if there could potentially be other issues around the corner and consider putting the money towards simply replacing the tool.

For reference in the UK a TS55 with a new blade, plug-it cord and Systainer is £350. Take the £50 for the tool of,  £50 for a Systainer you can put to use, nd a spare power cord, and the tool is basically only costing £230.
