Okay, what do you guys think?

This is a prototype plant stand I am working on.  I need any and all input that you would care to share with me.  I have been working on this awhile and need some fresh eyes to give some input.  I think the legs should be beefier and their curve could extend out farther from the top.  Anyway let me have it, I can take it.

I like it. It looks like, depending on what it supports, that it will be well integrated with the plant.

There are only two points I can make: 1) I'm wondering if it will be a little top heavy, perhaps the base could be a little wider, and 2) I wish I could make prototypes that look one quarter as good.

Lookin good but here's my thoughts;

I think the legs are good, any thicker - beefier, then  it would look as though it were for holding a keg of beer.

Top looks too tall and not wide enough at the top for it's shape.  Looks top heavy , hmmm , maybe make the top 1/2 as thick or tall. Then most definately make the uppermost flat portion of the top wider or as wide as the legs extend out.  Flair the bottom of the top up and out ( like the top edge of a flower vase ) so it looks like it's ment to hold something up, more of a "V" shape.  Like a dinner plate ?

This might be a stupid question, but here goes...  The stand is beautiful.  The legs are graceful and curvaceous.  Can you make it work without the base?

Wow! Thanks for all your input.  The top started as a vase and while it was sitting upside down I flashed that it might make a cool table.  I agree with everybody that thinks it is top heavy and with the present design the base would have to get bigger and maybe 5 legs? I did a dry fit with 3 legs and it was unbalanced. That is why one leg is poplar and not laminated maple.  I am digging the input and it is apppreciated.

First of all I really like the project.  The only thing that I would like to suggest, and it is kind of out there, is to flip the top.  Here is my thinking,  the usual crown molding you see in houses, sometimes called colonial, there is actually a greek name for the profile, is exactly the opposite profile from which you should see in mantles that hold up "something".  With the top flipped it would look similar in design to specific forms in greek columns that "hold weight" and it is suprising how this one change in form can add to a more balanced and fluid looking form.

love the project and I will completely understand if you ignore all of my jibberish.

Thanks for the input.  Its funny the major curved part of the top was a bowl until I flipped it.  As I am working thru the designs I can see it going both ways.
