Old hose but at 50% still a great deal

Just received the old sleeved hose and to the positive it does have the old style rubber tool end but on the negative side it has a new (to me) vac end sleeve that has internal nubs (starting 12mm from the business end) that prevent it from engaging the Dust Deputy pipe. I'd already cut down the excessively long taper on the DD pipe so I don't want to cut that any shorter.

Had anyone cut out the nubs in the hose hub and plugged the resulting holes with something? Did that work or is there another solution?

Michael got a photo please?

I've forgotten how to post a photo of my own  [unsure]

The nubs are positive on the inside but negative on the outside of the hub.

They form a groove on the outside into which a positive locking mechanism could engage but I haven't seen anything like that on Festool  dust extraction equipment.

[member=18038]copcarcollector[/member]  that connector is what I expected but not what I received. Also, what I received does not have the AS symbol.

My photo is 500940 / 201778 the 10 meter sleeved hose, I figured they would be the same... sorry that was not more helpful!

Why two different styles of connectors?  I wanted to get one of those reduced price hoses, but that connector with the two internal ribs won't work for me  [sad]

It's not good for me either. Did anyone else get this connector on a new old hose?

Perhaps email Beaver and ask them to check their stock...? The picture on their site sure does not look like what you have received ---

That's an unfortunate design decision by Oneida to connect the hose on the outside of the tube instead of an internal connection like most are done.

Mine should come early next week. Let me see if I can figure out the adapter needed.

My sleeved hose is probably a couple of years old and it also has the internal ribs and will not fit on the UDD.  I have a D36 hose connected to the UDD and the sleeved hose connected to that.

Tried some fittings, the Festool Y does fit but is too long so a little jostling of the hose pulls the Y off the DD. The Fein Y would work much better as it is about 1/4 the size (and cost) of the Festool Y but it has a circular ridge inside that prevents it pushing onto the DD pipe.

Another thing (don't know where it came from but it was probably the result of a tip posted here) works much better than the Festool Y as it is much shorter. The red thing is an adjustable air port to allow air in and reduce suction if your dust extractor doesn't have adjustable speed (Fein).

Michael - I think but I don't know for sure that the vac end of that hose is 27mm. SO you should be able to remove the existing end and the replace it with your hose end that works now.

Before I send mine back, is there an adapter (part no.) that I can use to replace the hose fitting w/o having to get the Y-connector for the UDD?

This is how I did my sleeved hose and the UdD.  I cut a small section of 36mm hose about 2 ft long and used a Festool hose Union.  [attachimg=1] [member=42263]c_dwyer[/member] [member=3192]rvieceli[/member]

MK......yes mine (new discounted) came with the two ribs...my 3 year old one has the same ribs

I'll probably just cut two short notches in the DD pipe end. Probably only need to be about 5mm deep by about 10mm wide. A regular hose end (without internal nubs) should engage the DD pipe well past those notches.
