There are a few ideas here for those who need to store more than just a few backsaws.
A little while ago I upgraded a saw till which I had build years ago. I use both Western and Japanese saws, especially joinery, such as dovetailing and tenons. The "collection" had outgrown the old saw time, so I ripped out the internals and rebuilt the storage. The aim was to make it easy to get to all the saws. There are fold out racks, with holders which others may like to copy.
It now looks like this ...
The re-build is documented on my website: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/ShopMadeTools/OldNewSawTill.html
