What have I got? I want to buff my car. Is this thing a true orbital sander? Does Festool make and sell a soft Buffing Pad and Cover for it?

Bought it in 2006. I believe the term 'Rotex' was added to the numerical description.

Used it only a few times for wood sanding.

(Gee. and isn't the enclosed instruction sheet wonderful with the tool?)

I am not sure that I understand what you are asking; is it an older ETS (ES) 150 sander or the older Rotex RO 150E? The ES sander looks identical to the ETS 150  sanders, while the older, Rotex 150 is way different looking than the newer Rotex 150 FEQ - which came out on 2007. I am guessing you have the older RO 150, and in the rotary mode, is a superb polisher.

Either way, any sponge, felt pad and/or sheepskin available for the Rotex 150 FEQ  or  ETS 150 will fit your sander. The other items - sanding pads and the polishing pad would be different. Though the Older RO150 is no longer in Festool's catalog, any sanding or polishing pad suitable for the ETS 150 sanders works on the RO 150.

The full description is RO 150E+. Discontinued in 2006. My sander has a motor tower  noticeably taller than the replacement model.

It has a switch to convert from circular to orbital. That's all I know. I might have tagged on the description of Rotex without fully understanding Festool nomenclature.

Yep, you have tghe older Rotex. Any of the accessories - sanding pads, sheepskin, felt pads and sponges for the ETS 150 will fit  your sander.
